Get Ready for Fall

I dream of moving back to a place with Fall, can I say that out loud?  Maybe if I do it will become a reality.

The Earth has finally granted me with cooler weather (in between incredibly hot weather), so I’m ready to share a few little & easy things we can all do to feel the season of Fall!  I recommended mixing up your routine every season because change can give you a refreshed feeling that we could all use.  Staying in the same patterns are not intriguing enough for our beautiful complex brains.  They get bored & start saying crazy shit.

Get Ready for Fall

Use A Cranberry Lip:

My favorite part of fall & winter is the darker lip colors!  They’re so easy to wear!  I know for some of you they can feel overwhelming because a dark color sounds bold, but it’s bold in a fantastic way.  You barely need to wear any other makeup when you have a bold, defined lip.  And cranberry is even easier than red!  Less stark – if you know what I mean.  Grab a cranberry color & try it with only a little mascara & you’ll be surprised. (I’m trying the Burt’s Bees Liquid Lipstick in Wine Waters: HERE)

Make A Pumpkin Recipe:

If you like pumpkin, you have to make a pumpkin recipe this time of year!  The flavor will jump-start the seasonal change of foods!  The berries are fading out and the sweet potatoes & squash are fading IN.  A pumpkin recipe will give your palette a taste of what’s to come.  If you don’t like pumpkin, keep trying.  Wafiq hates pumpkin but I’m going to keep trying recipes while forcing him to like it.  I give him a bite & say “isn’t it SO good, I put extra chocolate!  Can you tell about the extra chocolate?”  and he responds: “there’s pumpkin.”  A recipe that I recently made & about died over is HERE.

Make Time To Clean Out:

Why is “spring cleaning” a thing?  We need to make “winter cleaning”, “fall cleaning”, and “summer cleaning” a thing too!  You should be cleaning out extra things all the time.  I’m on a bender.  I completely removed ALL the furniture in our bedroom & started sleeping on the daybed in the guest room – with no future plan in sight.  I wanted LESS.  Take this “fall cleaning” sesh as a chance to clean out your closet of old sweaters from last year that didn’t hold up.  Throw out summer clothes that are worn out so you don’t have to store them.  Throw old makeup products, clean out your cabinets & refrigerators.  Dust the top of your fans.  Organize the closets & get rid of your junk drawer.  Clean out ALL the things!  We’re going into hibernation mode with winter approaching & there’s nothing like heading into that season “weightless”.  Do it this weekend.

Get Out The Chunky Socks:

I busted out the wool socks already.  I wear them as slippers around the house.  I can NOT live without them.  Everyone should have their feet covered because feet are fucking gross.  And when they walk around they drag germs everywhere & it kinda makes me sick (unless you’re out on the clean beautiful terrain of Earth of course).  SO, grab those chunky socks, make sure you have enough good ones, and keep those feeties covered.  In the winter, my trick to avoiding deathly dry skin on my legs was (past tense cuz I don’t live in Minnesota anymore) to wear shorts around the house with my chunky socks & moisturizer on my legs.  Letting your skin breathe has always been key to keeping it hydrated.  The chunky socks helped keep me warm while my legs kissed the winter air.

Stack Up The Big Blankets:

Bring em out bring em out bring em out! Like I mentioned last year, dust off the cozy blankets, get a few baskets & lay the big blankets in the house!  Not only are they cozy to look at, but they’re also necessary when you want to snuggle in & watch a good movie.  We just finished “Unbelievable” on Netflix.  Go watch that series!

What are you guys doing to get in the fall spirit?  I’m considering a Halloween face painting session like last year (here).  Obviously just for fun because I like playing with makeup, but we’ll see if time & energy allows it.

Have a great weekend! Talk soon.

Be thoughtful

Xx
