Spring Cleaning Essentials You Forgot About

We’re stuck inside our homes which gives Spring Cleaning a whole new meaning.  Besides the regular dusting, I made a list of things you might forget to add to your Spring Cleaning Checklists!

I’m actually excited to share my pro cleaning tips!  Over the last few years of trying to become more of an adult & make my house a home – I’ve picked up a few necessary cleaning tips that I didn’t realize were game-changers.   Trust me, if you haven’t checked off everything below, try something new.  A clean house is a clean mind is a clean life.  OMG the reason I instinctually have the mindset that less is more is simply because it makes me feel light in life.  Like I can move.  Be mobile in life, in my mind, in my being.

Not to get deep but, it’s me. Hi.

Spring Cleaning Essentials You Forgot About:

The Importance of a GREAT Vacuum:

If you don’t have a good vacuum, I’m talking good as in: lightweight, easy to store, cordless, sucks up dust & allergens, easy; then you don’t know what you’re missing.  You absolutely need a good vacuum, consider this permission to invest in one.  Your life will change, don’t think about the money too much. It’s disguised as expensive, but it quickly gets its money worth, trust me.  The one I have & LOVE is the Shark DuoClean Cordless (HERE), we like it so much we give it as closing gifts.

Considering Non-Toxic Cleaning:

Yes, you’ll probably clean parts of your house with Clorox or cleaner with alcohol considering the times, but have a non-toxic option too.  I use Branch Basics for almost my entire house.  The product comes as a concentrate that you mix with water to create a cleaning solution for every room in the house.  I also use this for my laundry, which is where the real money-saving comes in.   I add my fav essential oils to create a little custom cleaning potion.  You can always use other nontoxic brands but make sure to check them out on the Think Dirty app so you know exactly what the ingredients are!

Making A Give-Away Bin Visible:

Everyone needs a giveaway bin that’s easily accessible! Use a big laundry basket or moving box & put it somewhere you see often, not upstairs stashed in a back closet.   If you don’t see the bin, you won’t be giving things away.  Another tip with getting rid of things – nothing is too big.  I literally got rid of an entire bedroom set because it was done to me.  The less clutter in your house, the less clutter in your mind.

Switching Out Air Filters:

Spring is a great time to make sure all your filters are clean!  The air filter in your house, the filter in your water – anything that needs an annual check-up or has been neglected, now is the time.

Creating Useful Space in Every Single Room:

Making sure all your space is useful is what I consider cleaning on steroids.  For example, we had a guest bedroom that was cute & set up for anyone to stay in.  Then I realized, it’s no longer worth it.  2020 is going to equal fewer visitors & a lot more time at home – so I’ve been making an effort to get the most use out of every square inch of our home.  We discarded the entire bedroom set, rearranged the room to be almost completely empty, and set up a nice space to workout with a few pieces of equipment.  {We have one pull out couch just in case we do have a visitor.}. I also did this with the junk drawers or unused cupboards, time to get organized with useful space.

Cleaning Door Handles & Light Switches:

Just a reminder – clean the places you touch every single day!!  Every single light switch & door handle needs a good scrub!

Finishing Spring Cleaning by Buring Sage:

Finish off your cleaning situation with a little burning of sage or Palo Santo wood.  “When used for smudging or burning, palo santo can eliminate negative energy, creating a calmer, more tranquil space. Set an intention about what you want to clear out of your space, then move from corner to corner, removing any bad energy, uplifting your spirit, and filling your home with good fortune.” (via)   Call me crazy, because I am.  Having something to signify a shift into positive energy is sounds like a good idea.

What do my clean freaks think?  I hope everyone found something new.  I have found that cleaning & organizing has helped keep my mind busy & the days moving along.  As much as I wish I could sit in front of the tv in all my spare time, it isn’t realistic & ultimately makes my anxiety worse.

Love u & hope you’re hanging on to that rollercoaster.

Be thoughtful

Xx
