At Home Workouts for Every Mood

If you haven’t done any home workouts while in quarantine, that’s ok.  I resisted working out for a few weeks, but at some point we have to face the reality of being at home while also trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Working out, stretching, moving is a gift that we should appreciate if we’re able.  Cheesy, I know.  Exercise is the thing I miss the most when I’m sick or injured.  Being able to exercise has always been something that I can lean on when my mind is claustrophobic.   The key is, finding a way to move your body that you enjoy.  I can’t stress that enough!  If you don’t enjoy exercise, you haven’t found your perfect routine.  Your preferences might change daily or maybe you’re getting the most out of yoga everyday for a few months – do what works for you!

I’ve been able to consistently do one of the videos below every single day.  They’re different enough for any mood I’m in, hopefully you’ll enjoy them too!  If we’re in quarantine for another month, I’ll probably have an updated list.

At Home Workout Routines

At-Home Workouts for Every Mood

Ryan Dance with Me (HERE):

AT HOME WORKOUT

(Instagram Live, 5 days a week, 45-60 min classes, saved to stories for 24 hours, free + but welcoming donations for their small studio employees!)

Ryan hosts an Instagram Live DANCE PARTY!  You guys.  Think, party in the club with flashing lights & bottle service!  Like HIGH energy, incredible music, fist-pumping, strutting your sexy way, all the vibes! The perk?  No one is watching if you look ridiculous.  You can really live it UP.   Fingers crossed these workouts continue far beyond our time in quarantine.  The steps are very easy, children can participate!  Ryan hosts the party on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, & Sundays!  I join a few times a week to keep my mood in check, because this is a serious mood booster situation.  If you’re feeling anxious, depressed, nervous, stressed or any icky mood – force yourself to tune into this class & you won’t regret it.  You’ll definitely sweat a little & you’ll walk away feeling connected to 5,000 other people participating LIVE.  This is a MUST DO for cardio & mental health! Trust me.  Also worth mentioning, I feel grateful for people like Ryan, they’re truly a shining light to those of us at home.  As easy as it would be for him to chill at home or charge monies for his classes, he instead brings the energy we all need, every single week.  Praise be.

Lia Barth Pilates Based Method (HERE):

At home workouts

(Instagram Live, 7 days a week!, 30-60 min classes, saved to stories for 24 hrs, free!)

Look, I wanted something so fucking easy.  Like no jumping, running in place, high knees, or drill Sargent yelling vibes.  That’s not the quarantine for me.  I was on the search for something to barely check off the workout box for my day.  I found Lia’s Live Instagram workout thinking that’s what I would get.  I quickly noticed you’re able to sit down most of the workout.  Perfect!  All you need is a mat & a fitness ball would be a nice addition but definitely not necessary.  Little did I know this workout was going to torture muscles I didn’t know existed, in all areas of my extremities.  If you use the proper form, this workout can be very challenging!  But, great for people who want a chill atmosphere.  I try to do one of these workouts a few times a week for muscle building without weights.  Try them!!  I think you’ll enjoy it & feel strong afterward.

Splits Training App (HERE):

At home workouts

(Free app on your phone or ipad, daily schedule, 25 min stretch sessions)

I’ve wanted to do the splits like all the cool girls for as long as my memory will allow me!  I stretch, but literally never make it all the way to the ground, even though it’s been a lifetime quest.  The Splits Training App guides you through the right stretches & how long to hold them in order to eventually achieve the splits.  I started with the “intermediate” option as I’ve always done yoga but there’s also a “beginner” and “advanced” stage you can start at.  Trust me, anyone can do this!  The app is super simple to use & free.  Bonus! I love that you can integrate your own music as the background, so time truly flys.  Lets see if it gets me to the splits!  If nothing else, it’s holding me accountable to stretch every day.  Highly recommend!

30 Minute Mini-Band workout (HERE):

At home workouts

(youtube video, 30 minutes, free! *need mini bands (here)*)

For people who want to use a prop!  If you have mini bands at home, you’ll appreciate this workout.  I’ve been trying to find a good full-body workout that uses mini bands, most of the workouts I find are for the booty only.  The 30 Minutes Mini Band workout is easy to follow, a nice mixup from your regular workouts, and time flys!   I love that mini bands are easy to store & travel with in comparison to other workout props.  Time goes so fast when you have a prop, something about it adds the variety your mind is looking for.

Yoga with Adriene (HERE):

At home workouts

(youtube channel, 10-60 minute videos, free!)

I can’t post at home workouts during a quarantine without mentioning Yoga with Adriene.  I can only imagine a huge portion of the world is leaning on her videos during this time as a crutch for mental support.  At the very least, I try to knock out one of her yoga videos if I don’t have the motivation to do anything else.  These videos offer more than exercise, they’re a great way to remain present, which I believe is the most helpful thing we can do these days.  One day at a time.  Start Yoga with Adriene (HERE), it’s the beginning of a 30 day Home series.  I’ve been doing this savasana video (HERE) after I finish yoga, it really hits the spot – try it!!

Resistance Bands for At Home Workout
Resistance Bands (here)

Right now there are a million sources of at-home workouts, I see them popping up everywhere at all times of the day.  If you’ve found one that has really been working for you – plz share!  I noticed with such a saturation it’s challenging to find ones that stick.

I hope you’re all doing okay on this rollercoaster.  It’s like the Wild Thing right?  That really tall rollercoaster that is such a bitch you look at the picture when you get off & notice everyone is laughing at it because you look like you shit your pants while the camera flashed.  We’re on that ride.

Thinking of you, love u.

Be thoughtful

Xx
