Top 5 Favorite Stories of 2018 on MissBassmaster

My favorite part of the Missbassmaster online space is storytelling… That’s one of the reasons I started in the first place.  I’ve always loved writing.  Because there’s not a ton of drama in my life, being able to get dramatic with an otherwise average day feels adventurous.

Below are a few stories through 2018 I shared online.  I read through all my posts of 2018 & landed on the 5 below as my favorite.  A great summary.  The good, bad, and ugly.  This funky time in-between Christmas & New Years requires minimal thought, a few good stories will support your mental time off.

> ONE THING I WISH WOULD GO AWAY: POSITIVE PEOPLE <

I rampaged about obnoxious positive people right at the beginning of 2018 – BOLD move. I was anxious re-reading this post, worried where my headspace was while writing… but this one, I read it back & have to admit it’s pretty true to my current feelings & has a nice sidekick of humor to keep things light.  I’m sticking to what I said in this post through 2019, so I’m happily bringing it back for you to review.

> MEETING A SCIENTIST OF MEDICINE <

I was a little teary eyed reading this post back because it was such a fragile time {in my life}.  I literally just had my (2nd) anaphylactic shock experience & felt incredibly defeated – 1 day later I met this scientist & had one of the sweetest, most humbling conversations of my life.  I can’t believe how life has a way of working, that conversation was more important than I can express & came at such a specific & monumental time –  I literally needed it.  I’m SO happy I have an entire post to this story & it’ll live forever here.

> WHY GETTING MY EARS PIERCED WAS SO IMPORTANT <

Duh, right?   This story is still major.  The only con – the chore of changing earrings every fucking day?  Is this correct?  None the less, getting my ears pierced might sound like a weird accomplishment to be this proud of but it truly felt like I was taking back a little control of my body.  Such a major POWER move for me mentally.  I absolutely love the power vocabulary in the story, I feel it.  Bonus, I officially look like a rich ass woman now.

> MY FIRST PANIC ATTACK <

I mentally drafted this post in my head for over a year.  I knew how therapeutic it would be to write it down, but couldn’t get the story out.  I started this blog before I moved to Dubai so I would have a place to write how I was feeling, which always helped me work through whatever was going on.  I knew writing about my panic attack had the potential to offer the same relief.  But I was scared to remember the details myself, much less start writing it down.  Once I did & it was done, I saw how supported & connected I quickly became.  I felt like I could breathe.  After this, I can be honest.  Even w my cracks.  And letting that story, the horror of it, live online is also a good reminder of how serious anxiety can feel.

> MERCURY RETROGRADE <

Winner for the most fun post of the year!  I absolutely love talking, storytelling, learning, discovering, exaggerating, off the wall shit!  A step off the straight path.   Exploring, digging in.  This post, this day, was FUN.  What a fucking awesome, adventurous story.  If you hang out with me for a day, you’ll see these conversations are very much my normal.

And those are 5 of my favorite storytelling posts of 2018.  I’m going to try writing more stories in 2019.  They’re my favorite kind, and recently I’ve been thinking how bull shit material “things” are.  So fucking dumb.  I mean… fun.  But dumb.  So I don’t want to share only shit you should buy, because confidence should come from your own stories too.  Finding a story & spice in your otherwise average day.

If you read the above stories, let me know your favorite one in the comments below!

Love you, be thoughtful
