The Perfect Snack Essentials To Have At Home

I have the perfect snacks that are tiny, healthy, affordable & so easy to stock up on while we’re stuck on the quarantine rollercoaster.

I’ve noticed if you go to the grocery store in-between moments of panic (when a new quarantine or lockdown is on the news), you get pretty stocked shelves at most locations.  I haven’t stood in a line at any of the stores & I’m trying to keep it that way.  With that in mind, these snacks should all be available still & some of them you can order online.  I’m sure by now people are getting frustrated having to cook literally every single meal they make, hopefully these snacks will relieve some of that stress.  They’re easy & healthy!

Per usual, my goal of sharing these snacks was originally to help out anyone traveling.  Boy oh boy have the times changed.  I’m hopeful we’ll get back to the days of jet setting eventually, maybe with even more of an emphasis on staying healthy.  So, if you save this post for your next travel destination, it’ll be perfect for your packing list!  (Isn’t it fun to dream of trips happening again?)

You can almost always find at least two of the below items in my purse on any given day.  They’re all well-stocked in my kitchen.  They’re affordable, don’t perish easily, & they’re small enough to take anywhere or stock up to leave at home in the event of an apocalypse.

The Perfect Snack Essentials to Have at Home:

Chomps Meat Sticks (here):

I don’t usually eat beef sticks or beef jerky, but I will eat Chomps Beef Sticks.  They’re literally the easiest to pack & they aren’t full of sugar like a lot of alternative snacks.  They have an ingredient list complete with only things you’ll understand & be happy to indulge in.  The beef is 100% grass-fed.  They’re affordable.  Both Wafiq & I like them, they come in handy on busy days of work where we don’t’ have time to sit down for an entire meal. I pick them up at Trader Joe’s.

Go-Raw Sprouted Pumpkin Seed Bar (here):

I eat a pumpkin seed bar probably too often, but they’re delicious & a great breakfast alternative when you’re in a hurry or aren’t feeling like making something yourself.  They’re minimally processed, the seeds are sprouted making them easier to digest, & the ingredient list is SHORT.  Also, pumpkin seeds are a source of ZINC which is important these days with the virus hanging around…

Go-Raw Ginger Snap Cookie Crisps (here):

The best companion to coffee!  Also, easy to pack or store.  The ingredient list is short & superior.

LesserEvil Oh My Ghee! Popcorn (here):

I like packing 1 bag of popcorn when I’m traveling in a car.  Popcorn lasts a little longer than chips & it’s often healthier than the chips you can pick up from the gas station.  I always grab Trader Joes Organic Popcorn in Olive Oil or LesserEvil Ghee Popcorn.  I try to avoid flavors other than sea salt & find brands made with an oil that I understand like coconut, ghee or olive oil.  I try to avoid sunflower or canola oil.

One Degree Organic Sprouted Oats (here):

Let me explain why a good brand of oatmeal is a great addition to pack on any trip or have on hand at home – it’s easy!  You can make several bowls of oatmeal with one bag & all you need is hot water.  There’s no better situation in a quarantine.  I brought a bag with me to Dubai & ate it almost everyday for breakfast after I found some fresh blueberries to mix in.  Yes, you can probably find oatmeal at your destination but that’s extra work, our goal is always what’s easiest.

Emmy’s Organic Coconut Peanut Butter Cookie (here):

I had to include these cookies in the list as a dessert option simply because Wafiq & I fight over them.  We always have to travel with a bag for him & a bag for me.  We compete to see who can make them last longer.  If you like peanut butter, this treat is for you!  The ingredients are excellent in comparison to other dessert options, but there’s no compromise in flavor. I get mine at Whole Foods.

Pique Tea (here):

Not exactly a physical snack but something I started throwing in my bag wherever I go, even if it’s out for a day.  I’ve been hearing the endless benefits of Matcha so I did my research to find a good brand that I’d feel confident drinking every day.  To be honest, matcha isn’t my fav flavor, so I wanted to make sure I’m reaping the most benefits to make sure it’s worth the sip.  I found Pique Tea Matcha to be great quality & they sell matcha in to-go packets so I can literally throw one in whatever bag I need to.  I had a Matcha a day while in Dubai for a MONTH with these packets.  I also mix one packet a day in my smoothie while at home these past few weeks.

Natural Vitality Calm Magnesium Supplement (here):

I hear people say Magnesium is like Xanax – great for anxiety & it knocks you out to sleep at night.  I’ve tried 99 different Magnesium supplements & have yet to experience those benefits.  Either people are lying, weak, or I’m immune.  BUT, I still supplement with Magnesium as my doc suggested & I heard it’s something a lot of the population is low in.  These to-go Calm packets definitely come in handy when on the road or to have hanging out at home.

quarantine snacks

I hope I did a good job convincing you of a few new snacks to add to your shopping lists.  I’m sure I’ll always be adding on as I discover new goodies, but for now these items do the trick.

If you want to make your own snack at home, that’s SUPER easy, I made this recipe last night  (recipe: here).  We LOVED it, I had to make another batch quickly because we immediately ate them all.  I was thinking, I need to make a binder of all the online recipes I try, the good ones always get lost & I forgot to make them again.  Anyone else have that problem?  There’s something with a collection of printed recipes that does the trick better than Pinterest.

That’s all I have for now!  Thinking of you.

be thoughtful

Xx
