Socks! 5 Styles For Any Outfit
Did You Know? “John Heimlich, chief economist at Airlines For American, or A4A, the big carriers’ Washington trade group, said, ‘2018 has been an exceptionally busy year for air travel, with 20 out of the 25 busiest days ever recorded by the Transportation Security Administration occurring so far this year.’ ” (via)
The deal with sandals is that I hate them. Especially on men. There isn’t a bigger no-no. Men already have an easy fashion life so taking the extra effort to put on a sock, and then a shoe: is vital. It’s the first thing my eyes go to & was the ONE thing I immediately looked at when dating. This was a no exception policy. If you’re not wearing socks & a proper shoe, you better be next to a pool or beach. End of story.
Here’s the deal, if you can’t put on a sock & full shoe – I’m already concerned w how clean you are, an overall lazy attitude, & effort… in anything. Red flags all over the freaking place. All fashion issues aside, who in God’s name wants to see a man’s feet? Especially while out shopping, on a date, sipping coffee, at a concert, anywhere. The answer here, is no one. NO ONE.
My issue with men wearing socks slowly took over to the point that it started influencing my life & style as well. I rarely wear a sandal. Lead by example, right? I’ve always been a sock + shoe person but it’s getting more serious. If I wear a sandal now, it’s w purpose. The sandal goes w my outfit perfectly, absolutely nothing else will work. And the second I get home, I’m putting socks on.
If your feet are bare. Walking over the sidewalks & dirty earth surfaces – aren’t your feet also getting dirty? The answer, is YES.
Socks are a must. Or at least a heel to get those feet up, & off the ground. These days I try to get creative with socks + ways to wear them. Since they’re a must & something I hope you all incorporate into your life daily, I’ve included a few favorites of mine below.
5 Socks You Can Wear Everyday
Socks With Sayings: Because some days, what you wear influences how you feel. If you can wear a sock that shares inspirational words, why not? They might give you that little boost you need in your day & possibly be a good talking point?
**Styling Tip: These socks will draw attention to your feet, make sure your shoes are looking nice & your outfit doesn’t clash.
No-Shows: An absolute MUST HAVE in your sock bin because again, not wearing socks is not an option. The key is finding the right pair of socks for your shoe. I wear the no-show socks almost everyday because of my shoe collection. This sock option isn’t the most comforting or ideal, I usually change out of them as soon as I get home, but they work for the day. A small sock is better than no sock!
**Styling Tip: Match your no-show socks w your shoe so even if the sock peeps out you won’t notice it!
Pretty Socks: Remember when we used to wear socks in elementary with tulle around the edges, well I’m bringing them back. This is acceptable again because feminine detailing has been taking the spotlight. Bow ties in hair, scarves around necks, pearls, floral – it’s all happening. Which makes it an okay time to reintroduce the tulle sock. Full foot coverage – I’m IN! (other favorites: here / here)
**Styling Tip: Scrunch down an over the knee sock so it bunches at your ankles over boots! Get creative!
Sporty Sock: You thought you only needed these when you were on the soccer team? Think again! Still very much a yes, especially for your daily chill activities like running to the grocery store. This pair of socks right here is soooo comfortable, thick, durable & the perfect height. I’m a big fan. Love the rainbow. (other favorites: here / here)
**Styling Tip: Pair w shorts for a casual weekend look, or wear to your workouts
World’s Softest Socks: Doesn’t the title sell it? And they’re not joking! These are the cutest socks & they’re incredibly soft. I’m so happy I picked up a few pairs while I was in Minnesota, they’ve become new favorites. The color & this pattern is especially perfect because it looks good with a shoe on, barely peeking through, but also looks good when you’re shoes are off. Not too crazy of colors or style. Subtle, but cozy AF. (other favorite: here)
**Styling Tip: Make sure you try ankle socks with sneakers but also a calf high sock scrunched down, try all the varieties!
Tell me I’m not the only one with a SOCK fetish?! I can’t believe people that live in sandals or bare feet. Ask any of my friends, they’ll tell you this is a real thing for me. Especially on men, Wafiq will walk out of the house in sandals on days when he’s intentionally trying to bother the F out of me. All joy.
The ground & bare feet don’t go together unless you’re living in untouched & unaltered terrain. Not to mention in the winter, when it’s cooler – doesn’t it make the world’s difference when your toes are warm?!
Alright, share away! Anyone else have weird pet peeves?
Have a great weekend friends!
Be thoughtful
Xx
Way to rock those socks!
