New Food & Kitchen Snacks

I’m sharing recent snacks & food from the kitchen!  I haven’t talked food & groceries in a long time, so I thought it would be appropriate to pepper your life with some healthy snacks to feed yourself in between the holiday treats.

New Food & Kitchen Snacks

Seaweed:

My acupuncturist said I need to stop eating popcorn.  She only said that because Wafiq was with me on the day she asked what I snack on & he confessed to her my deepest guilty pleasure – popcorn.  I was in the habit of stress eating SO much of it, all the time.  Anyway, the doc recommended Seaweed as a snack to help fill the void & I’ve been hooked since.  It’s not filling, but it tastes pretty good & I actually prefer that it’s really light.  Check seaweed ingredients before buying! There are tons of brands available but I’ve had trouble finding seaweed, that’s just seaweed.  I found this one on Amazon (here), but the brand I found in the store is SeaSnax (here).

Flax Oil:

Another rec by my acupuncture doc.  She suggested I start boiling my food rather than baking it & I’ve been on board!  Wafiq & I have been loving boiled food, can’t believe it took so long to figure out.  The doc suggested drizzling flax oil over the top when I’m done cooking.  Now, I do this with rice dishes, oatmeal, quinoa, or veggies.  Supposedly it’s supposed to help your digestion & keep things moving.  The one I buy is in the cooler section at the grocery store, near probiotics & supplements.

Go Raw Pumpkin Seed Bar:

Here begins the Go Raw obsession, get ready.  If you follow me on Instagram I don’t have to explain myself here.  I eat these pumpkin seed bars anytime I don’t have time to eat breakfast, or when I know I’ll be out of the house most of the day.  I don’t love eating at resturants so it’s convenient for me to pack something I can happily eat if I get hungry on the go.  These bars have a high sugar count because dates are the main ingredient, but it’s natural sugar & not something I’m personally overly concerned about at the moment.  Maybe don’t eat 24 in a row?

Spaghetti Squash:

So spaghetti squash specifically deserves a shout out because it’s the only squash that I’ve figured out a way to trick Wafiq into eating, however not the way you would expect!  I steam the squash in the instant pot & keep it in the fridge.  Every morning I heat a little on the skillet & then serve with eggs.  They end up tasting like hashbrowns!  MmMm.  You need to try this!  Lemme know if you do.

Go Raw Sprouted Sunflower Seeds:

I’ve been overlooking sunflower seeds my whole life but they’ve finally taken a front seat, where they deserve to be.   I recently went through an entire {large} bag.  They’re the perfect seed because they’re small, not too crunchy or overly flavorful.  I throw them on top of pretty much anything I’m eating – including my oatmeal in the morning with a little cinnamon & maple syrup.  I like buying anything I can “sprouted” as I’m made to believe that’s easier on our digestion.  Similar to these (here).

Organic Rice Cakes:

Rice cakes aren’t some crazy new discovery, I know. But I haven’t eaten a good ol traditional rice cake since I was a child.  Recently, I noticed an instagram account I follow created a “caramel popcorn” recipe with rice cakes & I had to try it!  Get the recipe (here).  Since then, they’ve been a cabinet staple.  I also like that they’re easy to grab & eat when I have no time & need a quick & healthy fill-me-up.

Matcha Green Tea:

I’ve heard enough of the perks about green tea to finally get on board.  I was hesitant for a long time because I’ve been told to stay away from tea due to histamine issues, but I read this tea should not only be fine but possibly help histamine issues?!  I’ve been drinking a pack of this Pique Matcha Green Tea every single day.  I mix with cold water, then top it off with cashew milk.  I can’t say it’s the best flavor ever, but I’m getting used to it & if there are any health benefits to take advantage of – I’m here for it.

Elderberry Syrup:

I debated putting this in the list because it’s not necessarily a food, more of a supplement.  I ordered this Seattle Elderberry Syrup to have on hand during the cold & flu season.  I know the past few seasons elderberry has been sold out every time I go looking for it come cold & flu time so I wanted to get ahead of the game with a brand I’m confident in.  I think everyone should have this!

Mike’s Organic Curry Love:

Trust me when I say, we’ve tried all the prepared curry sauces available & this one is our favorite.  Not only because of the flavor, but also the quality of ingredients – which again is hard to find!  I brown chicken & add additional spices, but I”m sure you don’t have to.  If you have any interest in a quick dinner, try this curry!  There are different flavors & I’m sure you’ll find one that you like.  I found it at Whole Foods but also (HERE).

Lesser Evil – Buddha Bowl Ghee Popcorn:

I can’t eat popcorn because I’m fighting an addiction to it – but YOU CAN.  This exact popcorn was one of the worst discoveries I’ve ever made because it’s next level fucking good, without bad ingredients.  I’ll admit, it’s hard to find, but it’s so good it’s worth buying several bags if you ever see it in the store.  I think this is the same thing (here), but I’ve seen it with different packaging.

Bonafide Bone Broth:

I’ve been drinking bone broth every single morning!  Sometimes twice a day.  Supposedly, there’s endless goodies bone broth can provide your GUT.  And I can’t imagine that many people on earth have a perfect gut, so I wanted to step it up & do what I can for my body.  Not to mention, I really love drinking broth.  I have a savory over sweets taste preference & sipping on warm broth does the trick.  I’ve been buying Bonafide Bone Broth, it comes frozen & can be found in the freezer section.  It’s not the cheapest but it’s organic & made with high-quality ingredients which is a must for me if I’m drinking soup every day for the health benefits.

I think that’s everything that’s new in my kitchen!  I wanted a place to link for you guys, bring this to the grocery store.  I love everything on the list & believe you would too.  Let’s try our best to stay healthy in between holiday treats.

Also worth mentioning, I know some of my food recommendations can be more expensive.  Unfortunately, that’s usually the price you pay for real food.  I recommend keeping an eye out for sales & comparing prices between grocery stores.  I usually stock up when I see one of these things on sale.

I’ll see you tomorrow for Men’s clothes.  Plz come back.

Thanks.

Love u be thoughtful

Xx
