My Top 3 New Years Eve Dresses
The only reason I try to do anything on New Year’s Eve is for the sequin outfit moment. Very straightforward with this, no pretending to enjoy a good night out in the middle of dead winter paying premiums for the Uber & tickets to party – I’m here for the dress.
Soooooo I think I’ve made it obvious what I’ve been up to – hunting the world wide web for some badass sequin outfits that aren’t $1M, because 1 night. That are comfortable, sparkly, and can represent my 2019 vision board through style. Hard task. But I found some.
Before I get deep into the glam, I want to say… If you don’t have a big party to go to, or friends to hang with or a boyfriend to stay home with – that’s ok too. Fuck this sequin dress bullshit. I remember plenty of years I had absolutely nothing to do on New Year’s Eve, not by choice. All my friends were out of town & I wasn’t dating. Because I lived away from my family I ended up alone on more than a few holidays & celebrations. If we’re being honest, that part sucked. I wanted to get dressed up & party with my friends or be around my family – it just wasn’t always an option. Don’t feel freaking pressure get the sequin dress or pay for party tickets or purchase friends just to make your New Years Eve look how you think it’s supposed to look. If you’re completely alone, not even by choice, take the time to appreciate this New Years Eve. Looking back at my holidays or celebrations alone, I learned to be comfortable with myself. Character building. And special. If the party is what you’re missing, you’ll have your chance for plenty of parties & sequins in the future – you absolutely don’t need to put that pressure on one day, New Year’s Eve. DO YOU in whatever circumstances work for you this year & fall in love with that.
Mmmmkay? We good? I needed that to be crystal fucking clear before I go into my sequin fantasies.
New Years Eve Dresses, the three things I was looking for::
Long Sleeves, because I almost died last year with how cold it was inside the venue, I ended up getting terribly sick. Long sleeves adds a little extra coverage even when the jacket comes off. Not to mention, additional sequins.
Full Front Coverage, I want to move, dance, and be as comfortable as I possibly can be in a sequin dress so there’s simply no time for this deep cut, nipple barring, dress situation. Tryna have fun here & also anxiety free. (Something about a stressful outfit gives me anxiousness on the day I have to wear it.)
Max Sequins, I’ve always tried to take an opportunity to celebrate New Year’s Eve, I love how everyone gets dressed UP! It’s the best time for people watching & celebrations. In previous years I tried to be unique with my dresses & stay away from the predictable gold/silvers, but this year I’m feeling MAX sequins & shine. Just my vibe for the new year. BRIGHT.
My Top 3 New Years Eve Dream Dresses
1:: Pink High Neck Open Back Sequin Dress – This dress checked all my boxes! With a bonus pink situation happening. I love how it has a full open back but complete coverage front. I’d rather have my entire back open than my front, much more comfortable. I didn’t have PINK on my radar, but when I came across this beauty I knew it had my name on it. Shoulder pads included, which made me hesitant, but also ready to try. I look for those little details that’ll separate otherwise reg NYE sequin dresses from the rest.
2:: Silver Tassel Sequin Bodycon Dress: Stunner! What a classic New Years Eve dress, and when else could you wear it?? I love the silver, the tassels (omgomg), the long sleeves… This dress is a total knock about, 1-2 punch, you’re in it to win it on New Year’s Eve. God forbid that one sells out of your size, here’s another hot fire option (HERE).
3:: Kendall Ruched Jumpsuit: This is my curveball for people that can’t get on board with sequins. I’ve worn WHITE the past few years… Incredibly fresh, light & renewed. Bright among all the silver & gold sequins. I was tempted to wear white again this year, because of this jumpsuit. Kendall Jenner wore something similar once & I was obsessed so naturally am drawn to this option, with shiny accessories. I think this one will sell out of a lot of sizes, you’ll notice white sells out this time of year. I’m thinking I’m not the only one with the white New Years Eve memo, but you can totally try anything WHITE like THIS / THIS / THIS would be just a stunning.
