A Few Chunky & Cozy Cardigans For Fall
Cardigans are the perfect outfit accessory for Fall weather. They’re the cherry on top of an outfit, either acting as a statement piece or as a neutral to throw on when you’re cold. I own a ton of them & keep one with me almost every single day, in every single outfit.
There isn’t a season that goes by where a cardigan doesn’t come in handy. I use one when it’s 135 degrees outside because it’s usually -35 degrees inside. I prefer to be temperature comfortable at all times. You’ll notice I picked out a few different styles of cardigans, so you can mix & match them every day of the week with whatever outfit you’re wearing. I also tried to recommend pieces I think you’ll be able to purchase this year & take into the years to come. If the cardigan felt like it was going to fall apart or get “old” quickly – it didn’t make the cut. Plan on bringing these babies to your FUTURE fall seasons. Per usual, I tried on most of the recommendations or am confident enough in them to purchase myself. That’s my vibe recently.
To preface my recommendations, as a natural rule of thumb, I always size way UP in my cardigans. I like them to be oversized & comfortable. You’ll notice most of the styles would go great over your layers. Chunky, comfy, long & soft AF.
A Few Cardigans For Fall
Blush Pink Puffed Sleeve Cable Cardigan
I was excited to find this sweater because it’s almost exactly like one I already own, that’s sold out. I always get compliments with people asking where I bought it. I think it’s the belle sleeves that make the sweater appear ultra-cozy & comfortable. I absolutely love the blush pink color, you can wear it like you would a neutral as it ends up matching almost everything in your closet. This cardigan is super lightweight, v soft, & a perfect length. I tried it on in 2 sizes UP so that it’s oversized, just the way I like it.
Target Universal Thread Open Neck Cardigan
Target for the win! (Isn’t that always the case?) Topshop makes a similar cardigan that’s 4x the price, and in my opinion a little bit {less than} on the quality chart. I love that the length comes easily down over your butt so you can pair it with leggings & not be too worried about your backside. “Taupe” is a great neutral color to pair with any of your work or weekend cozy clothes. And it’s really soft, not scratchy! Know what I mean?
Free People High Hopes Cardigan
Free People makes an excellent CHUNKY knit cardigan. I bought one 2 years ago & still wear it once a week. I even lost it once when I was traveling & came home to buy another one. It’s that good. Every season Free People comes out with a similar version, so I linked the chunky knit cardigan they have available this year. The knit if very chunky, it hangs oversized, & it’s comfortable. You could sleep in it like a big blanket. I tried this on while I was in Nordstrom but was too lazy to take a picture. I did confirm it’s really close to the same one I own, so I’m confident telling you this will become a staple cardigan! I’m a fan of all the color’s, but would probably pick “wine” for Fall 🙂
American Eagle Eyelash Cropped Cardigan
One thing we must not forget – Cardigan’s are perfect to transition your summer clothes into the fall season & to bring back once spring rolls around. This cardigan, in particular, would be so pretty to pair with your summer dresses or skirts. You can totally stretch your summer clothes a little longer, I’ve been known to do this way too often. Pair your cute summer dresses w an ultra-soft, beautiful deep blue cardigan like this one & you’ll look like you know what you’re doing! This cardigan is again, ULTRA soft. Like, omg. It’s cropped & hangs in an oversized style so it’ll go great on top of a dress.
Striped Thermal Wedge Cardigan
Here’s a curveball for you. I would say this sweater looks like something your grandpa would wear, but is that a bad thing? You tell me. For what it’s worth, this cardigan is really comfortable. It has a more breathable, thermal fabric that won’t make you feel stuffy or like you’re going to overheat. Great quality & great colors for fall. If you’re someone who wears black a lot, it would fit perfectly in your closet. I think it would be FUN to wear this cardigan with a full face of makeup & lots of black, mix the grandpa vibes with glamour – that’s just me of course.
These sweaters are making me incredibly envious of people that experience cold weather. I’m trying. I’m trying not to complain. I love the heat, I love hot weather. I’m so happy that it’s been 100+ degrees for 20 days in Septemeber. That’s fine. I’m a wild spirit animal that loves the earth so much, I can love the heat too. It’s all fine.
