5 Reasons to Follow A Doctor on Instagram
Hi there! I’m glad you’re back. Today will be interesting, I’m talking about Instagram & Doctors. 2 things I never expected to exist in the same sentence unless it was addressing something dangerous, like mental stress associated to social media.
My obsession (I call it a hobby) with organic food & ingredients started somewhere around 2013. I watched a documentary on Netflix by complete accident, I think it was called Food Matters. I believe you can still go see it. The film covered the power of all necessary nutrients from a wide variety of food to the way everything we’re consuming is solely based off a company’s money (rather than nutrition). It was eye-opening. I was eating peanut butter with sugar before that, can you even imagine?
I couldn’t go back to normal living after learning this information.
The words stuck w me. When we sweet precious human beings think we’re eating healthy & doing a great job for our bodies, we’re being scammed because of the “other” shit. Whether the other shit is manipulated advice, political moves, chemicals, or straight up money – it’s hard for people to know better.
I watched the film somewhere around 2013 & that birthed my ingredient list obsession that I’m still always talking about. Then, it really kicked into high gear when I had Anaphylactic Shock. I quickly became OBSESSED w food. Not just the actual food, but where it came from, how it’s treated & exactly what it is.
I’m open to more food groups now, but still fixated on ingredients & how the product is treated. That’s my current situation. And I dig deeper as often as I can (meaning, whenever I have enough time to get lost in informational videos).
Boom boom fast forward to what I’m here to tell you about today – Doctors on Instagram! Before you run away thinking this is sketchy AF or you’re too healthy to consider anything “doctor” related, hear me out. We have the opportunity to gain as much knowledge as we want & to live as happy of a life as we want. Although you may not have a physical ailment today, you may have a few pounds you could lose, an annoying reoccurring infection, or be mentally stressed. You may have a struggling family member that you’d love to be able to help. Following these doctors doesn’t require you to have a diagnosed issue, it requires you to want to live your healthiest & happiest life!
Also! Have you ever gone to the doctor & left feeling like… (???*&$???). If you haven’t, you’re lucky. If you have, you want to get on board with this. I’ve seen too many doctors over the past year to admit, but following Doctors on Instagram gave me the strength & confidence to trust myself.
5 Reasons To Follow A Doctor on Instagram
1. Daily Health Tips for a Healthy Lifestyle:
This is the most important reason to follow a doctor on Instagram so I wanted to start the list here in case you leave me after this, DAILY HEALTH TIPS FOR A DELICIOUS LIFESTYLE. Delicious, as in fucking amazing. If you start following a few good doctors, you’ll hear them repeat the same things over and over and over again. They’ll be small, but mighty tips that you’ll easily be able to start doing while feeling supported by their constant reminders.
2. Full Body Health:
If you follow a well-qualified doctor, you’ll be following someone that takes into consideration the ENTIRE body. The mind, the physical being, and the insides. All parts of your being. Following a doctor will often connect all the dots for you. Why the stress you’re feeling is always followed by joint pain. How to work on anxiety through food & stretching. How your food is connected to your stress is connected to your back pain is connected to your digestion is connected to your…. you get it. So much knowledge here!
3. Decipher Between TRENDS & Reality:
This is MAJOR! And so incredibly important. You guys, there are soooo many trends with food, supplements, exercises and diets these days! I’ve always said to proceed w caution before following anything because our bodies are so different – no ONE thing works for everyone. If you follow a few doctors, they’ll usually address upcoming trends right when they start picking up popularity. They’ll decipher who the trend works for, and who the trend does NOT work for. I can’t express enough how valuable this information is. And actual DOCTORS giving their professional opinion? For free? I feel like we’re cheating. You’ll see “Influencers” sharing trends & trying to explain why something is good/not good for you, BUT they didn’t go to school for 1o years to truly understand that information. Doctors HAVE.
4. Knowledge is Power:
Not only will the doctors on Instagram help you feel smarter, you’ll BE smarter. No, you’re not going to replace your primary care physician (please sweet baby Jesus don’t assume you’ll get that smart from Instagram). Remember, doctors went to medical school & the good ones bury themselves in ongoing education… forever. But, by following one of these doctors, you’ll be SMARTER with your daily choices. You’ll be SMARTER with your body & the way to understand it. You’ll feel SMARTER when you eat food, exercise, drink water, play outside, and take care of your mental health. You’ll even be smarter at your next doctor appointment! Because you’ll UNDERSTAND more.
5. Doctors are More Important Than Clothes:
This pains me to say, because I love shopping & clothes, but I speak the truth. I recently unfollowed literally 150 people on my Instagram. I’m not a professional at mentally managing social media. Although I know everything you see is a “highlight reel”, I’m not always the best at compartmentalizing that in my mind. So I unfollowed anyone who doesn’t align with me. That meant anyone perfect (which was a majority), scared of the F word, or pushy with sales. I STARTED following another 150 accounts that DO align with me, that can bring value! People who had a voice AND clothing passion, true entrepreneurs, science pages, comedians, unfiltered randoms, food accounts, and DOCTORS. Since then, I’ve reignited my passion for Instagram – there’s so much meaningful content out there, I was just on the wrong track! So if you’re following a ton of accounts in one category, try changing it up to important accounts that make you feel good – & I can’t imagine anything more important than HEALTH!

I feel so lucky these doctors provide all this information for FREE. I know they put a lot of time & energy into it. This is a corner of Instagram I’m grateful I discovered because it’s a huge wealth of knowledge people before us didn’t have. FREE, incredible information you used to have to pay for! Free? FREE! You guys have to get on board with this. I promise I wouldn’t lead you wrong 🙂
