3 Times To Apply Rose Water

Did You Know?  There is a famous Rose Valley in Bulgaria that has claimed to produce up to 85% of the world’s supply of rose oil.  During rose picking season, picking begins at 4 o’clock in the morning and usually ends at 10 AM because the rose petals picked in the afternoon have 50% less rose oil concentrate in them. We’re already feeling the fresh air & cool breeze that naturally comes with the new season – even in Texas.  There’s nothing better than walking outside to a big welcoming breathe of fresh, cool air.  You know, I’ve had a long term crush on one very important thing that makes your face feel as good as that breathe of cool fresh air?  That crush is ROSE WATER.

Now, before you close this idea down because you’ve been over saturated hearing about rose water – hear me out.  I was you.  I saw rose water looking all fancy in everyone’s pictures, inside their purses, on every shelf in every store and quickly discounted that it was anything more than walking over to a sink and splashing water on your face.  You know what I mean?  One day, I caved.  I saw a travel size of Mario Badescu Rose Water spray for $3 and thought what the hell, why not.  If for nothing else, I’ll look cool carrying this bottle around.

THEN, I used it.

And finding the right time to use it is what’s important. Once you do? You’ll be addicted like all the other fancy people & totally understand why it’s in every store, on every shelf.

3 Times To Apply Rose Water Spray::

1. After you FINISH your MAKEUP:   I’ve tried all the “make-up setting sprays” you can think of.  All of them.  They’re so-so.  I’ll say this, I’ve never repurchased any of them, and actually had to throw away a few because they sat in my drawer for too long, unused.  Once I started using Rose Water as my make-up setting spray, I couldn’t use anything else.  I understand the idea of spraying your face with water after you apply makeup is hard to wrap your head around, but it works.  Think of it more as a way to melt your makeup together as one smooth, blended, moisturized canvas.  I do this if I’m wearing only a little tinted moisturizer OR have an entire face of makeup on.  The one step to never ever skip, a good rose water spray.  I’m not ready for my day without that finishing touch.
2. When your SKIN is DRY AF: If I’m having a dry moment with my skin, I throw the rose water spray in my purse so I can quickly give my face a drink throughout the day.  I don’t have to do this every single day, but it’s my go-to on days my skin is being extra sensitive.  Think winter.  It’s coming quickly & our skin dries out much quicker in the winter, so rose water will be a bff through the season.  Trust me when I say, there is no better refresh for your face!  If you don’t like wearing makeup, but you have it on, bring rose water spray with you & spray whenever you need that fresh face feeling.  It also helps give you a wake up boost when you’re super sleepy.
3. AFTER you apply all NIGHT products: Holy hell once you start doing this you won’t be able to sleep without it. Here’s what you do, follow your normal night routine. Remove makeup, exfoliate, wash your face, eye cream, oil – whatever!  When you’re all done, with everything, give your face a big refreshing spray of rose water!  It’ll lock in all those products to really get work done AND it’ll leave a refreshing feeling on your face, perfect for a calm night of sleep.  YOU’LL SEE!

A few things to keep in mind when you purchase rose water – pay attention to the bottles.  You want the spray to come out misting & soft.  If it’s too powerful or the water drops are huge, you’ll hate it and hate me.  I know the Mario Badescu bottles work wonderfully! I use those bottles and refill them with the Trader Joe’s rose water – because the bottle is better but Trader Joe’s spray is convenient.
