2018 FAVORITES | Missbassmaster
We’re barely into 2019 & I feel like the timing is right! I’m not one to focus too hard on January 1st as a deadline or starting place. Today, I highlighted the year in review from MissBassmaster – all of my favorite products, food, & lifestyle recommendations from the year.
I looked at everything from 2018 on this blog, all the pictures on my phone, everything at my house, and all my posts on Instagram to find the biggest winners of the year. The things I discovered & stuck to. The holy grail of 2018 if you will. I’ll likely be taking these things through 2019 too. Personally, this is one of my favorite posts to do because it really highlights what’s been working the past year so nothing seeps through the cracks.
Let’s get to it!
MissBassmaster 2018 | BEAUTY
Beautycounter Sheer Lipstick “poppy”: This lipstick has hands down been my favorite & most comfortable lip product to wear throughout the year… ever. The red works for summer or winter months, it’s moisturizing, makes your teeth pop white. I can’t imagine finding something better.
Plastic Hair Bands: I mastered braids this year with one quick & easy trick – plastic ponytails. Once you know, you know. You’ll never go back to big binders again & your braids will look professionally done.
Rose Water: My savior! The true gold star. I used to think this rose water spray was a trend that would fade away, but I sure hope it doesn’t. I use it to set my makeup, throughout the day when my skin feels dry, and right before bed.
Nivea Essential Enriched Body Moisturizer: The fucking secret no one told me about. Even Wafiq knew this Nivea body moisturizer was a must-have! Since discovering it, I’ve gone through… bottles. Being a convenient drug store find gives it a bonus point & a product I likely won’t replace for a long long time.
Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Foundation: This year I took the time to try ALL the top brand foundations. And I really experimented here – Is there even a difference? If so, what is it? To my surprise, not much of a difference between any of the foundations I tried, except this one. Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Foundation is a makeup product I didn’t know existed. A true stand out. I’ve no reason to look elsewhere.
MissBassmaster 2018 | FOOD
Topo Chico: I finally found my favorite drink of all time – topo chico. If I didn’t drink two bottles of this stuff daily, I must have been sleeping. Once you can get on board with the sparkling water feeling of topo chico, you will NEVER look back. Rumor has it they were recently purchased by Coke or Pepsi, which means we’ll be seeing this as an option in a lot more grocery stores & restaurants.
Forager Cashew Milk: This milk is rather new to my grocery list but I’m confident enough to say it’ll be around for a long long time. I’ve tried ALL the freaking non-dairy kinds of milk I could find this year & absolutely nothing compares to this Cashew Milk. Unsweetened. I can drink a glass plain with a cookie & believe I’m back to my dairy milk days. You should be able to find it at Whole Foods!
Hu Chocolate: Not only is this dairy free & gluten free chocolate, it tastes really good. Like really really good. The size of each little bar is the perfect texture, amount, and taste. I’m obsessed & buy a bar every single time I see one.
Wild Rice: This was the year I reconnected with wild rice. Because of my {pain in the ass} allergy attack, rice was a common food in my diet, but I didn’t want to get stuck on white rice. I switched to brown rice, quinoa but my most creative option was wild rice. There’s a texture, flavor, & comfort from wild rice that doesn’t compare to other grains.
Sweet Potato: OH! The. year. of. the. SWEET POTATO. Brush up on sweet potatoes with this post: HERE. Because if you’re not on the sweet potato bandwagon yet, it’s time! I’m all about a good sweet potato fry but recently started making a sweet potato mash..!? 2018 may have been the year of the sweet potato but it’ll still reign 2019 too!
MissBassmaster 2018 | LIFESTYLE
Washington DC: Admittedly I didn’t travel very much this year, somewhat intentionally. I had a rough year health wise & anxiety had me weak in the knees thinking about traveling. I didn’t go very far, but the one place that stands out? Washington DC. So much so, that I want to make it an annual thing. I’m hoping to travel to the east coast in the spring every year! Why not? The weather was incredibly refreshing, the energy was light, the colors were vibrant. My one day in Washington DC was arguably my favorite day in 2018.
Demi Lovato “Tell Me You Love Me”: Demi Lovato’s album hit me in the right spot. I was locked in & connected. This was the year for her music & I really latched on. It’s the only album I had on my phone the entire year & still turn it on today. I’m really rooting for her.
Live Comedy: I mean… too obvious? (Wait for the next one, ha!) I had anxiety about going out to dinners, a bar, drinks, or restaurants so being able to go watch live comedy with friends was a complete relief with no pressure whatsoever. I’m a die-hard fan, I have 4 shows booked this month! 2018 may have birthed my love for live comedy, but it’s not going anywhere anytime soon.
The Joe Rogan Experience Podcast: I’ve never felt so inspired by conversation. Many of the guests he has on his show have honestly little interest to me, but it’s the conversation that I’m addicted to. They inspire me. Some of my personal favorite people in life, are the ones that I can talk to for hours, about everything. No distractions & all honestly. This podcast is like I’m sitting in on a good conversation daily.
Juicy Scoop Podcast: Juicy Scoop with Heather McDonald is what you need on a stressful day or while you’re sitting in traffic. She recaps all the “juicy” topics in the headlines & Bravo TV shows. She’s honest. Herself. Funny. And a great mental distraction whenever you need one.
Mom TV Series: I tend to get very HOOKED on TV Series. Wafiq hates it because I’ll replay each series I find over and over and over again. But like, a lot of times. The series Mom on “hulu” was that show for me this year. I’m a big fan of Anna Faris & Alison Janney so this show was a no-brainer. The dysfunctional, abnormal family lifestyle is attractive.
MissBassmaster 2018 | SHOP
Old Navy Athleisure: The year I FINALLY discovered affordable, cute, comfortable workout clothing. Again, how was I not made aware of this situation sooner? Who knew & didn’t tell me? I’m a die-hard Old Navy Athleisure fan now. Specifically the high waisted compression pants.
Chewy.com: Why the hell was I carrying around a 799 lbs food bag for all of Bernice’s 6 years of life? WHY? Chewy.com is not only wonderful because they deliver my doggie’s food to the door, they also have exceptional customer service, fast & free shipping, and the company truly shows love for animals.
Socks: My phobia of bare feet has gone from sandals to shoes… to shoes with a fucking thick ass sock. I can’t deal with bare feet anymore. They’re close to the ground, getting germs, gross & dirty. This is a big no-no. I set out to find comfortable, cozy, warm, cute socks to wear anytime and I’ve achieved the mission. I’m never going back, test me.
That’s the round-up of all my favorite products from 2018! If you can do me a major favor and leave below what your favorites of the year were I would appreciate it! I feel like I can’t afford to miss things like Old Navy Atheltic Clothing or Nivea Body Moisturizer ever again. How did those get past me?
I hope you’re all having a great start into the New Year! The energy feels right to me. Lots of LOVE. That’s my word of intention all year long. Love love love love love.
Be thoughtful
Xx
Love it!
