Tony Robbins Live! 3 Easy Takeaways…

“If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.” – Tony Robbins

My first time going to see a motivational speaker & it was freaking TONY ROBBINS!  You guys.  I don’t think you understand how much I used to obsess over this man & his story.  I saw him on Ellen years + years ago.  I bought one of his books while in Dubai & when I finished it, Wafiq read it too.  We’ve both tried to steal his energy in our day to day living, so to get the opportunity to see him live was so fortunate!

Do you know who Tony Robbin’s is? Straight from his website: “Tony Robbins is an entrepreneur, best-selling author, philanthropist, and the nations #1 life and business strategist”.   I was first attracted to him because he is self made, coming from nothing, but also believes & encourages the importance of giving back.  I’m here for it.

I wanted to quickly pass on a key point or two that we took away from hearing him speak.  Obviously in no way will I be able to reproduce any of his information, you’ll have to go see him for that, BUT there were a few things that gave both of us a beautiful refresher on this wonderful life we have.

I’ll set the tone, Tony started his speech by saying we had nothing to truly complain about.  If we were able to afford tickets to that convention & had health enough to participate – we are fortunate.  I always remind myself of that exact same thing.  If we’re functioning, if we have our health & we can walk around – we should be grateful.  (You HAVE to watch this 2 minute YouTube video.  I stole it from Joe Rogan’s podcast. OMG it’s fucking everything.  Watch: here)

Tony Robbins doesn’t see himself as a motivational speaker because he doesn’t tell you to change your mind, or to think positively.  He believes & teaches a strategy.  He said, if there’s a weed growing in your backyard he’s not going to tell you to go think really hard & be as positive as possible about this weed going away & any future weeds coming into the garden.  Instead, he’s going to tell you to go out to the backyard right away & pull out the fucking weed.  He’s more than simply thinking positive.  Strategy.

He major believes in movement & energy.  Physically moving.  That’s why he jumps around a lot at his conventions & “Go Crazy!” is flashing on the projector screen.

His energy is UP.  And ours should be too.

3 Easy Takeaways From Hearing Tony Robbins Speak

HIGH ENERGY:  He had us greet our neighbors in 3 different ways.  First, he asked us to greet & say hello to everyone around us as if we were shy & scared.  After that, we determined the interaction was slow moving, low energy, minimal effort. Then he had us greet & say hello to everyone around us as if we were annoyed & bothered.  After that interaction, we determined we didn’t exert energy, physical contact, or feel good.  Then he asked us to greet our neighbors as if that was the best part of our day!! The whole room exploded, everyone was hugging, smiling, energized, lifted.

This small example illustrated so well how much our energy effects our relationships & results.  If we approach business, relationships, and life with high energy & excitement – it will create that same environment for us.

FULLFILLMENT: He also explained the importance of fulfillment.  It’s important for every single one of us to know what fulfills us.   If we don’t know, we risk the chance of reaching our goals & achievements but not feeling fulfilled.  For example, if we work to impress our parents, spouse, friends, or coworkers but don’t focus on areas of personal fulfillment, we’ll reach the top achievements feeling like something is missing.  So, what fulfills you?  Having a certain skill-set, a large family, traveling to a particular region, being in a strong relationship – you have to know.  He mentioned several examples of people that have reached their ultimate highest achievements but dealt with depression disorders and anxiety – because yes they reached a major achievement, but it wasn’t an achievement that ultimately fulfilled them.

SUFFERING: This one I loved because it’s so easy to take away & start doing today.  He has a wonderful story about learning what suffering is & how we all experience it.  Suffering is basically any condition that isn’t fullfilled, or happy.   Think – a crabby mood, you’re angry, you’re tired, you’re frustrated, you’re exhausted, or irritable.  We’ve all been in suffering right?  Here’s the deal, you have 90 seconds to get out of suffering.  Give yourself 90 seconds to change your headspace & remove the suffering.  Change the way you think.  Shift your focus.  Wafiq & I have been major about this since we saw Tony Robbins – no more suffering!  Even Tony suggested having the people you spend the most time with ask you if you’re suffering when they notice you’re in one of those moods – we’ve been doing that & I love it!  Way better than delivering the message “What’s your problem?’
