Amazon Shopping List | May 2020

I’m definitely trying to buy products from small businesses or locally as much as possible.  My heart burns for business owners trying to navigate the current times, it feels like an unmanageable situation.  I’m trying to find a way or resource to bring smaller businesses into our attention – stay tuned on that.

Amazon Prime Recent Finds | Summer ’18

It’s been awhile since I shared my Amazon Prime favorite orders!  We’ve been through this, Amazon Prime is better than Target. OMG I went there.  Don’t worry, Target still has it’s place.  It’s evolving into a store that has more than your random pretty nail polish color & hairbrushes – it has beautiful home furnishing & unique clothing.  So no, Target ain’t going anywhere.

BUT Amazon Prime is here to stay as well, so if you’re not on board it’s time to be!  The key to using Amazon well, is getting used to ordering things you need right away, rather than making a list & waiting until your next trip to the store.  Once I find the products I like, I reorder so easily because you can see you’re order history. Great for people that can’t remember anything.

And if you’re on the hunt for new products, Amazon is particularly awesome because review’s reveal all!

2 pack Collapsible Dog Bowl:

If you have a dog, and you don’t own 1, 2, 3 or 7 of these collapsible dog dishes – then you’re either not giving your dog enough water, or you’re not taking your dog on enough walks.  Ha! I’m hardcore.  These little bowls are tiny enough to throw in my purse, so anytime I have Bernice out of the house – I also have one of these bowls.  Just in case.  I also leave one in the car.

Rose Gold Bulldog Paper Clips:

I’m not sure what these clips are made for but I bought them because the plastic chip clips I had in my kitchen were braking, DAILY!  These clips are sturdy, & pretty.  I LOVE THEM. I use them to seal chip bags, popcorn bags, frozen french fry bags, oatmeal, or anything else that needs a clip!  They really seal everything easily.

The ONLY Knives You’ll Ever Need

Well here’s a little known fact about myself to chipper you up on your Thursday – I prefer/can only write a blog post when I’m listening to the Kygo station on Pandora.  It has that perfect mix of vocals & instrumentals, inspiring me to get my deepest words out to the world!  It can also take a turn for the worst & get me too emo, when I go back & read posts I can always tell. Ha!

TODAY is one of the best days for you guys because I’m forcing you to listen to me rave about these fucking incredible knives that I’ve ONLY cut my fingers on ONE time.  And that may or may not been because I was under the influence.. of something other than wine.

ALL HAIL IKEA $2 KNIVES!

I’ve tried other knife sets & knives from different companies that claim they have the baddest, bestest, sharpest knives in the world!  Not because I’ve owned many of them, but because I’ve gone to other homes & asked to use their knives.  And as predicted, they fucking suck!  They either have to be sharpened, be polished, or go through some other bull shit procedure in order to cut a tomato… BUT THESE IKEA BEAUTIES REQUIRE NOTHING BUT LOVE.  And they slice through a tomato like butter!  Are they the prettiest knives with their bright yellow & red handles?  Depends if you like ketchup & mustard.  I have no shame, I proudly set them at the table, especially with guests over.  I’ve thrown out the other prettier knives Wafiq inherited, no more pretending Ikea knives aren’t the only things in our kitchen that matter.

Forget Cyber Monday & Try This

Thank you to everyone for your feedback on the Jury Duty post!  I can’t describe the relief it was to feel other people understand where I was coming from… The experience made me think I was alone on an island called Understanding – so thank you thank you thank you! And like I said, I’m not done with this, so stay tuned.  My wheels are spinning!  Please continue to let me know if you have similar stories, ideas, thoughts – I love hearing them!

Today, I’m getting off the serious train & into something I consider a little more enjoyable.  I become overwhelmed & disengage quickly when someone is in a constant heavy subject.  Even for me, that gets exhausting.  I need to full circle of conversation.  I also try to enjoy my life & freedoms as much as possible because I know they are not granted to everyone.

Let’s talk Black Friday & Cyber Monday.  Fuck that shit!  (Yeah right, I spent the entire weekend scrolling the internet in efforts to procrastinate all other tasks.  Procrastination does not end in college.)

What Do You Think A Shelled Sunflower Seed Is?

Holy shit!  Almost literally. I was scared to go to the bathroom the morning after I ate those fucking sunflower seed shells.  I know that’s all you’re wondering, how was my poo poo.  Well, ladies and gentleman I’m relieved to report everything flowed normally… so far.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about you didn’t see my Insta Story. I’ve been trying new cookbooks & have recently been using the Naturally Nourished recipes.  I went for a casserole recipe the other night & noticed one of the ingredients was “shelled sunflower seeds”.  To me, this meant in-shell.  I was in Trader Joe’s googling “Shelled Sunflower Seeds” with results showing sunflower seeds, IN SHELLS.  Confirming my thoughts that the recipe had to mean sunflower seeds, in their shell.

Does baking a shell of any seed make sense? No it doesn’t. But neither did putting bulbs of garlic in green juice to cure my shingles, but it worked.  My mind told me no. My gut told me yes. To pursue & discover this new secret vegan ingredient, sunflower seed shells.

I blended about 1/4 Cup of sunflower seeds, in their shells. I did have a moment of hesitation after noticing the sunflower seed shells weren’t grinding down very well.  After persistence, I sprinkled the crumbs onto my casserole and baked.

Sunflower seed shells are a softer shell, okay?  I ate them as a child.  I know.  So I thought, maybe baking them would create a soft, crunchy crust.  Clearly wrong.

THIS WAS NOT A GOOD IDEA. And likely unsafe. Therefore, don’t do it. Shelled means unshelled. I don’t understand it still, and probably never will, but what the hell, learned something new.  In my defense, in another recipe from the book it asked for “Pistachios, out of their shell” which is why I assumed if that’s what they meant w/sunflower seeds they would’ve said it the same way?

Life Chats: MissBassmaster Gone Missing

My favorite day of the week has turned into Wednesday’s because I’ve somehow managed to get myself addicted to Survivor.  I haven’t watched the series since the first season but have come full circle, watching again.  I love competition, but that is one show I would never want to be a part of!

The Story Of: The Time I Found Out Aliens Are Real

I was in my office last week and a friend came running through the doors looking for a guy to help them. (Of course, she was not looking for me in this situation, you’ll understand why later.)  She seemed a little more frantic than normal so I asked what happened.  She said there was a bug outside in the hallway.  I thought that was interesting because she’s not afraid of bugs. And she didn’t mention what type of bug. Are we talking spider, cockroach, beetle? In my almighty moment I told her I would go take a look – I’ve recently made truce with large spiders & felt I could at the very least monitor a cockroach while we wait for someone to get it, worst case scenario.

10 Amazon Products Under $10

Like I’ve mentioned before, the one complaint I have about Amazon is the browsing options.    You can’t really get on Amazon & browse through it like you would at a store or another website.  You have to know what you’re looking for in order for Amazon to be useful.  That’s why I like sharing what I buy.

3 Things You Need To Stop Using – TODAY

I’m not a huge climate change advocate but it does break my heart to see what mother earth is going through, especially with some of our wasteful decisions – so I try my best to do little things that will hopefully make a difference. Creating less trash sounds like a good start.

5 Uncommon Ingredients For Your Kitchen: Middle East Inspired

I used to be afraid of recipes that had ingredients I didn’t use or have in my kitchen.  I thought it took too much energy to find them & the unknown price & flavors… But over time & the use of bravery, I’ve stalked my kitchen with all kinds of interesting ingredients & end up using them more than I expected.

Recent Readings On MissBassmaster

Books + Podcasts + Music are the three things I need.  I use them to help my mind take a break.   I want to disclose, I’m all over the place when it comes to reading.  I go through phases where I want to read about drug addiction, then Jesus Christ, then marketing, and sometimes a good fiction of a girl trapped in the woods.  The variety keeps me from getting bored & I highly recommend opening your genre preferences.
