Happy Fourth of July! | 2019
Happy Independence Day beautiful America! I say this all the time but I’m truly so lucky to have been born on the piece of dirt called America. And I work to make sure I never take that for granted.
These days, America is hard on itself. “These are tough times”. But maybe today we can reflect on all the beauty, the good times we’re in. Getting caught up in politics, horrors, injustice, money, prejudice, bad driving can happen easily because we’re flooded w those stories all day long – but there’s still so much good. Especially, in the United States. Remember, people are {literally} dying to be here.
There might not be total freedom, due to censorship & regulations, but there’s still a pretty aggressive amount of FREEDOM that we can’t ignore. Thoughts, expression, desires, careers, & health. Of course, we could get better, but I’m still very happy with where we are.
How convenient that it’s the fourth of July, the whole of the United States waving the flag proudly & showing all the patriotic colors. And Wafiq getting one step further on his American journey, recently having another {much awaited} appointment with immigration! Woohoo!
Nothing nearly as stressful as previous immigration appointments so there’s hardly any cheerleading necessary. And I can’t tell you how relieving it is that A LOT of the immigration pressure is off, & the waiting is on. We can handle waiting, waiting is doable. It was the dang pressure we were going through years ago that was incredibly debilitating. Now we… wait… again…
But this isn’t about immigration. It’s about being present & having gratitude on this Independence Day. Grateful for where we are! Grateful we were born on the dirt from this part of the round ball – Earth. If you don’t feel that, that grateful feeling for living in America, then I would encourage you to travel more! Not because the rest of the world sucks & you need to see it to appreciate the United States – the rest of the world is actually mother fucking fantastic. But it’s fantastic because I’m able to see all of it. With my American passport. I can enter, and I can leave. I can take what I want from a place & leave what I don’t. That’s a major freedom a lot of people don’t have access to. And in my humble opinion, acknowledging that fact alone is significant for the people who don’t have it. I’m not blind to the opportunities I’m given simply because of citizenship, I’m grateful.
I love sweet, beautiful America. And there’s not a day that goes by that I’m not reminded how lucky I am. With all the messed up stories, there’s still a lot of good ones. I’m equally obsessive over the rest of the world & that’s why I want to make sure I’m always aware of what I have in the United States.
Happy Fourth of July friends! See you next week!
Be thoughtful
Xx
