Yoga Studio Essentials for the Beginner
I have a few yoga essentials for anyone starting Yoga or someone looking to refresh their gear. I never pictured myself showing up to a Yoga studio every single morning, but one major bonus of a Yoga workout compared to others is the cute outfits, mat, & accessories that accompany the practice.
Let’s just say I’ve always been attracted to workouts that include competition or near death experiences. Like, if I’m not nearly crippled the next morning does it even count? But I’ve been using the occasional yoga practice as mental maintenance for anxiety the past few years & knew how powerful it was.
Recently, Yoga came in handy when my back started hurting & I couldn’t participate in my regular workout routine. I feel like a lion in a cage when I’m not able to release my energy. Starting yoga because my back hurt has turned into continuing yoga because it makes me feel good, every single day.
And MEN, you’re not to be excluded! You may need it more than anyone! The classes I go to are almost always half guys. I truly think if everyone participated in Yoga, the world would be a better place.
Whether it’s your first time going or your 950th time going to a class, I wanted to share what I always bring & a cute outfit, because shopping. I hope you enjoy!
Yoga Studio Essentials for the Beginner
Glass Water Bottle:
I’m getting rid of all my plastic, I’m done with it. SoOoOo 2018. It didn’t make sense to have plastic water bottles anymore. I found this cute water bottle on Amazon that I especially love because the top isn’t too complicated, making it easier to clean. The glass is extra thick to help with durability & you can’t go wrong with a slick white, simple design. This bottle is extra big, which I prefer so I’m constantly encouraged to drink more water.
H&M Black Sandals:
If you’re new to Yoga, you’ll notice that a lot of studios have you take off your shoes before you enter class. Having a pair of sandals makes it easy to quickly slide them on & off before & after class. But having cute sandals? Let’s you look like you have your life together while you hit the coffee shop right after class, no need to have a panic attack if you so your old boss at the coffee shop. I saw these sandals at H&M while I was shopping yesterday & LOVED them. Super affordable & very cute + comfortable.
Manduka eKO Yoga Mat:
So I’m told a good Yoga mat is essential if you’re really looking to become a regular in the Yoga studio. I chatted with the Yoga teacher yesterday as my current mat is $8 from Amazon & very beat up. She said a durable, non-slip mat is ideal & if you invest in one you’ll have it for a long time. I’ll probably upgrade to the one linked here soon, but if you’re looking for a cheap mat I have you covered. I got this one from Amazon, it’s a little thicker so it’s easy on the knees, comes with a strap, & does the job. Get one: HERE
Navy Blue Polka Dot Strappy Sports Bra
A cute bra is also a must, because you might be showing it. With so many cute sports bra’s available these days, I finally figured out why the design is such a big deal – You’re bending all over the place & you need a bra that is going to stay put & stretch with you. Not only that, you don’t want your t shirt hanging over your head, blinding you to the next move so often times being in your sports bra is the best move to make. I’ve already told you my hidden secret, Old Navy. It has everything! And their workout clothes are fantastic AND affordable! How cute is this top with the polka dots? I love it because I know I won’t be sliding out of it anywhere & it’s fuller coverage than many other options.
Navy High-Rise Elevate Sculpt Leggings:
And a matching set is a must! You guys, how else are you supposed to feel cool? In honesty, I prefer buying a matching set then switching up the top & bottoms from there. But starting with a set has always been my goal. These navy leggings have the very important high waist factor which is a requirement because they hold everything in & let you bend while being comfortable. I also love NAVY as it’s not too revealing of a color, if you know what I mean. Totally cute!
Onzie Glossy Flow Knot Crop Top:
I always go to the yoga studio with a cozy over shirt to throw on before & after class. Being cozy is key! In life, but especially in yoga because you want that relaxed mental headspace that you achieved in class to carry with you throughout the day. This shirt caught my eye because it has the 3 things I look for – long sleeves, loose & cropped! All 3 of those requirements are ideal. I like any shirt I wear with high waisted yoga pants to be cropped a little so it makes me legs look longer & to prove I actually have a waist in there. This one is perfect!
And that’s it! Super cute stuff I think will totally contribute to your workouts, even if it’s not Yoga. I am by NO means a professional Yogi, I struggle & feel like I’m faking it the entire time I’m in the class, but I keep going! And it keeps making me feel good. Our Yoga teacher said this morning, we do the same things day after day after day because… they’re comfortable. And humans like comfort. Maybe you want to explore change & see what happens.
What workouts are getting you through the summer? I’ve been meaning to try pilates sometime…
Have a great weekend everyone, see you on Instagram!
Be thoughtful
Xx
