Weekend Vibes: South Congress, Austin TX
South Congress, Austin TX
South Congress is home to A TON of familiar places. I remember first visiting Austin and driving down SouthCongress in complete awe.
Local shops line the curbs and the beautiful Austin Skyline stands tall at the end of the road {…and I want to take you there with me}.
Let’s get to it!
SHOPPING
You can get your cowboy boots at Allen’s Boots, badass unique jewelry at Leighelena or Kendra Scott, a freak-show costume at Lucy in Disguise, an antique clock at Unique Things, and your local wine and groceries at Farmers to Market Grocery.
Really, S. Congress has a ton of random shit. That’s not even close to all of it.
Favorites: Maya, Kendra Scott, American Apparel, and Tesoros.
FOOD
As for food – (If I take Wafiq ANYWHERE, there has to be food involved), options include:
Hopdoddy Burger Bar, Perla’s, Vespaio, South Congress Café, Jo’s Coffee, Homeslice Pizza and the list goes on.
I have eaten at all of them. And l o v e them all. In my opinion, you can do no wrong with the food on South Congress.
(Beware – Food trucks happen to be a big “thing” on South Congress, I suggest skipping them and going to the restaurants… the restaurants are too good to skip!)
Favorites: Homeslice and Hopdoddy
ENTERTAINMENT
You can’t exactly go many places without hearing music in Austin. South Congress will likely have music coming from a couple different locations.
I’ve been to Guero’s Taco Bar a couple times for live music – super easy & casual. Great place for some food + drinks when the weather is nice.
South Congress is great for people watching, photo opportunities, gazing at the old cars that line the streets, and enjoying a beautiful day.
Definitely add it to your list if you visit Austin.
Where’s your weekend hot spot?
