5 Yellow Pieces to Energize Your Summer

Did You Know?  Yellow “means happiness and optimism; it is the color of sun shining, or bright light and creativity. It is believed to have an influence on the left side of our brain, where deep thinking and perception dwells.” (via)

QUICK!  It’s selling out!  ALL OF IT! The yellow that is.

Yellow is a bright color that reminds people of the sunshine & warm summer weather.  Be the sunshine.

With our summer (fake) tans & the sunshine out all day – yellow is the perfect compliment & totally the in color.  Pay attention & you’ll notice it everywhere.  You saw Amal Clooney at the Royal wedding?  Rocking full & particularily vibrant – YELLOW.

Yellow promotes energy, cheerfulness & joy.  Bright & draws all the right kind of attention showing off your confidence.  I’m here for it.

I was always afraid to wear yellow, because… do you remember when you were a kid & drew the blonde, white kids with a yellow crayon?  How can I wear yellow when I’m already yellow, you know?  I thought it would wash me out, but with a little summer tan action happening it totally doesn’t.  And that applies to a lot of different skin tones & hair colors – yellow just works!

Popping on a bright pink, or red, lip & nail polish will really seal the deal.

5 Yellow Pieces to Pick Up Right Now:

Gingham Sleeveless Asymmetrical Hem Dress

I snatched this dress up at Target recently because it’s PERFECT for work.  Especially during Austin’s hot summers.  Super lightweight & flowy – but the soft yellow makes the dress pop, without having to try too hard.  How easy & affordable to throw on for work.  If you’re afraid of yellow, start here?  The soft tone might help calm your nerves.

Erica Honey Embroidery Sweatshirt

I’ve been wearing this sweatshirt a little too much.  It’s so soft!  How perfect for an evening after the lake or beach.  That time of night when it gets a little chilly outside. You have your fresh tan from a day in the sun. Getting all cozy.  Eeeek love it.  & the embroidered “honey” is just the perfect amount of delicious detail a pullover requires.

Ribbed Crop Top

Look! You don’t have to do bright yellow, go for an orangey/mustard color.  Pair this color with a bright red lip, thank me later. (and this one is like $6!)

Buckle Bag With Metal Detail

First, we need to change out your winter bags.  They’re too… winter.  And what an idea to incorporate a yellow/mustard color bag into your summer day.  I just realized the bag I was carrying around all winter has pen marks & snow on it, not acceptable for the season so I needed a change ASAP.

Yellow Crinkle Bikini ( Top / Bottom )

It is summer after all.  One of my favorite suites I bought 3 years ago at River Island & it looks similar to this one.  I tried on tons of suits that day but had little to no faith that I would like the yellow among my other options, but that’s the one I walked away with & still wear today.  What can I say – blue water, bronze skin, and a yellow bikini.  It’s magical.

I’m officially holding to a Tuesday and Thursday posting schedule!  I realize this is likely only exciting to ME, but sharing makes me more accountable.  I was writing recently & telling Wafiq how much better my day is when I get to write, so I want to start making it a priority.  I think 2x a week is a good number, I want to make sure I’m writing interesting, new things that are genuine.

Alrighty!  Finished this yellow post just in time to sit down & focus on The Handmaids Tale.  It’s the only show I can’t keep my eyes from, I don’t even know a phone exists while I’m watching.  Eeeek!

Enjoy the weekend, and be thoughtful

Xx
