5 Favorite Quotes on Love

Let LOVE prevail.  This was challenging you guys.  I’m not a big cheesy love quote person, I’m actually very far from it.  There are few romantic quotes that speak to me, but in my relationship, it’s hard to take most romantic quotes seriously.

Like, stars in your eyes & a candlelit dance forever… ?!  How about a good, fairly clean communication session that ends with a fantastic compromise for both parties.  Where’s that quote? My kind of romance is a strong conversation more than fairy lights & shooting stars. Talk about a turn-on!

But, like I said before, LOVE is so much more than romance & intimacy.  LOVE is incredibly important & so much greater than an emotion between two life partners.  Love is for everyone & the emotion is a medicine that we need to spread.

I’m obsessed with this quote.  Obsessed.  From my own experiences, I’ve learned the best times in my life were the times I was- WAITING.  Waiting to get a job, waiting to get a boyfriend, waiting to have my own home.  Most recently, waiting for the test results from my allergy attack.  In that waiting,  I worked hard to clean up my diet & started feeling proud of myself every single day.  If you’re in a “waiting” period I would encourage you to sit in it, and appreciate the good parts.  Unfortunately, you don’t typically see the good parts until they pass, don’t let that happen!

I can’t give a lot of relationship advice, because I can barely believe I’m in a functioning one, but this quote called my name & made a spark.  I’ve seen plenty of relationships where someone is the passive person, and I never felt like that would work for me.  It hasn’t worked in my friendships & definitely not in previous jobs.  Teamwork makes the dream work.   Two strong forces are better than one, right?  My favorite relationships are honest ones.  The relationships you can call someone out, you can give a genuine compliment, or you can give constructive criticism because you want them to be better.  To be the BEST.

I know this quote has been circulating for years, I remember it when I was single, but it’s always helped me remember to simply be myself.  I used to get called out for being goofy, or wearing some funky outfit, or asking too many questions – and rather than try to cover up that side of me & blend in, I tried to embrace it.  I still do.  This quote is a great reminder to keep doing YOU.  You’ll 100% attract someone that will love those parts of you.  Whether in a relationship or friendship.  I remember thinking, I have to let my unique qualities shine now, immediately!  Otherwise, in 10 years when I’m done hiding myself, I’ll have explaining to do.

Flip it & reverse it.  What is that bullshit, it’s not you it’s me.  Maybe it is you.  You know what, it most likely is, YOU.  This is powerful. I would’ve loved to have these words when I was dating, but more specifically when I was in one of my shitty jobs.  For example, I once had a job where I forgot to grab a UPS sticker from the front door on my way inside & my boss told me 10 minutes later that he “couldn’t believe I was so dumb & had a college education.”  Yes, I worked for true diamonds in the rough.  Now, I keep these words on a post-it note stuck to my computer screen as a constant reminder while I’m working.  It’s not me, it’s you broski.
