10 Series You’ll HAVE To Binge Watch This Weekend | 2019
This isn’t easy for me to admit, but I’ve gone through a ton of binge-worthy series in the most recent months. Look, we’ve had a lot of rain & then flowers bloom, allergies happen, & I have to stay inside even when the sun comes out. Please validate me.
I’ve always been a proponent to good television shows. They have special meaning to me & have been there in important times. When my brain is stressed, anxious, busy, worried or whatever other thing is going on – a good television show allows a break in thought. Call me crazy, because I am. The relief New Girl & Last Man Standing have provided me is immeasurable.
I recently saw this quote: “In a beautiful world that has come to horray the hustle, I find my sweet-loving soul rebelliously dancing to the contrary- for this season, busy has no place- busy can’t lasso my time. It is down by the river, sunbathing on silky rocks”. (Tess Guinery)
I felt such relief reading it! Not because I think you should sit on your couch every single day watching Netflix shows, but that you allow yourself time to SLOW DOWN & do things you love, even if you think you’re too busy. If you learn to prioritize, you can go a long way. We’re living in a crazy time where there’s an excess of information & expectations put on us, hustle harder & do MORE. If you’re needing someone to give you a break, I’m happy to be that person. Slow down, you’re doing SO much already.
You know Wafiq & I work in Real Estate, which for Wafiq, means working 24/7. And especially for him, he HAS to prioritize himself, even when people get angry & frustrated that he does. But who fucking cares about anyone else. It’s ruthless out there in the wild amongst people. Real Estate has blown the cover on a lot of human being FLAWS. The only way to get through it? Prioritize yourself & what you need, then don’t let anyone convince you otherwise.
If you’re looking to unwind for an hour w a good television show, omgomgomgomg these ones are SO GOOD!
10 Binge Worthy Series To Watch Now | 2019
RAMY on Hulu (1 season): MAJOR! I could write an entire 1,000-word essay on this series. Ramy is a Muslim living in America- this show does such an excellent job at illustrating the dynamic of a Muslim family! You guys have to watch this show, such a FANTASTIC perspective opportunity here! One thing that annoys me about our culture these days is extremes. For example, with Muslims, you either love them all & think they’re perfect & can do no wrong OR you’re racist. You’re either praying a few times a day or you’re not Muslim. But, Muslims are NORMAL. They have real family dynamics, imperfections, & beauty the way any other race or religion does. This is a great series that is FUNNY & beautifully made.
Madam Secretary on Netflix (4 seasons): I’m not typically interested in political series but this one got me. I love the female lead & the work + home life dynamic is swoon-worthy. I literally wanted to start dressing in full suites by season 2. Somehow, this show motivates me to be brave & multi-task.
Imposters on Netflix (2 seasons): From episode one, you’ll be hooked. The storyline is incredibly creative & the character humor adds an unexpected pleasantry. You’ll breeze through these episodes.
Queen of The South on Netflix (3 seasons): This is the best show on planet earth. Caution: You will not be able to stop watching.
Schitt’s Creek on Netflix (4 seasons): It took me a few episodes to get into this series but now I’m addicted. The acting is INCREDIBLE. It’s so much more than reading lines, I can’t get over it. 100% comedy.
Great News on Netflix (2 seasons): I believe this series is produced by Tina Fey. If you’re an asshole white guy, you won’t understand this show. For everyone else, go watch! You’ll find so much relief for your office frustrations.
Episodes on Netflix (5 seasons): Joey is in this series! And it’s good! 5 seasons?! You’re welcome.
Atypical on Netflix (2 seasons): IMPORTANT! This series shines a light on Autism & I couldn’t be more obsessed with it! Having never known or been around a family or child with Autism, I gained so much perspective from this show! Don’t worry, it’s very light, funny, compassionate & easy to watch. You’ll fall in love w the main character & BREEZE through the episodes.
Friends from College on Netflix (2 seasons): The title sells the premises of this series. I’ll admit I was a little scared away after the first episode as it’s eerily accurate of the dynamics of being a rookie adult. Although, I found the truth behind the characters & the plot development, refreshing. If you’re in your upper 20’s or 30’s, this is a good one that you’ll connect with right away.
Flaked on Netflix (2 seasons): I accidentally watched this entire series.
Good Sam on Netflix: Bonus, MOVIE! I just wrapped this movie up over the weekend. A feel-good chick flick that has enough twists & turns to keep you interested.
Someone Great on Netflix: Another bonus, MOVIE! If you’re single or going through a breakup you absolutely HAVE to watch this movie! Ladies! Watch this movie, it’s soooo delicious, fun, honest, & relatable.
Woofta! There are some gold mines in that list you guys, I hope you get to watch them! If you have any favorites, please please share them below. As you can see, because I’ve already watched 983 hours of television last week, a new recommendation is always welcomed.
Surprisingly, I’ve never watched a single episode of Sex in The City… I’m thinking that’ll be my next binge.
Have a great week everyone, love you!!
Be thoughtful,
Xx
