Life Chats: MissBassmaster Gone Missing

“You have this one life. How do you want to spend it? Apologizing? Regretting? Questioning? Hating yourself? Dieting? Running after people who don’t see you? Be brave. Believe in yourself. Do what feels good. Take risks. You have this one life. Make yourself proud.”

Life-Chats--Wheres-Missbassmaster

My favorite day of the week has turned into Wednesday’s because I’ve somehow managed to get myself addicted to Survivor.  I haven’t watched the series since the first season but have come full circle, watching again.  I love competition, but that is one show I would never want to be a part of!

The Real Hosuewives of Atlanta really had me hooked as well.  JUICY. I have never wanted to be a part of a group of friends more in my life. They are the baddest.  And I’m addicted.  I can’t turn the show on while Wafiq’s home because he can’t stand the yelling, but I sneak it in when I can.

I have so many super exciting posts coming up but I’ve stalled a little because I have a Web Designer working on my website… I want MissBassmaster to to be functioning & professional, and I am not good enough to get the job done myself so I’ve finally found someone to help.  Editing & working through the new site has taken a ton of time so I haven’t been as present on MissBassmaster as I want to be, but I REALLY believe it’ll be worth it.

Hopefully this will all be done in a week or two.. or three! We’ll see…

In the meantime, I’m only going to post a few times a week  & spend energy creating more!

I thought I’d fill you in as there may be a chance someone looks forward to my posts & notices they’re not happening as often.  I have not disappeared or slowed down… Just making things smoother!

Have a fantastic day & be thoughtful

Xx

Petite Ponderings: Halloween, Moving, & Music

I’m skipping Halloween costumes this year.  Typically, I’m all for a themed party or event & usually love Halloween – but this year I’m tired!

fall-leaves

It’s been one heck of a month {one thing after another} so Halloween came creeping in & the very last thing I can consider is participating in a costume.  Does anyone have a good costume prepped?? Love a good costume situation.

If you’re looking for something last minute and want to kill it – do THIS.  Worked wonders for me, I had everything at home to recreate the look AND it was shockingly easy.

As for me, I’ve already planned my weekend – pumpkin carving, fall baking, and maybe some bunny ears to sneak in Halloween spirit while I carve my jack-o-lantern… Possibly watch a scary movie too?

Do it yourself easy halloween

Last weekend I luckily discovered my favvvvorite band NEEDTOBREATHE had a performance in Austin at the Long Center, which I love because the backdrop is Austin’s beautiful skyline.  The weather was amazing.  The whole event was a real winner, I’m grateful I didn’t miss it!  You guys need to download their albums if you haven’t already, incredibly feel good music.  Their lyrics slay & go a step deeper than “work work work work work work work work work” (I love Rihanna, but you get it).

I love ALL music, but I think this band might be my favorite.  It’s the most consistently fantastic group, I’m obsessed & am fully aware I toot their horn – A. LOT.

I also went to a friend’s going away party last weekend.  We’ve both been to a few of each other going away parties, I think we alternate our moving timeline.  I had a conversation with her, and recently a conversation with my brother, about moving away.  All of us have moved our homes at least once and we were talking about how painless it truly is.

You pack up and you leave, and if you hate it, you pack up and you come back.

Your first move tends to be scary because it feels so permanent. People tend to make you feel that way too.  But in reality it doesn’t need to be.  It’s pretty easy, especially if you’re not moving across the world, that’s somewhat of a different decision.  Anyway, I bring this up because I want anyone making a big decision or thinking about a big decision to realistically think about it.  If it’s the right decision you’ll know and you’ll see it clearly with surprisingly little concern or doubt. I’m piggy backing off my last post, so reference my steps for making a brave decision for a deeper look.

Fingers crossed November goes smoother than this gloomy October of mine. The best way to guarantee that, shopping!  I’ll share my good finds soon 😉

Have a great, safe, weekend & be thoughtful!

Xx

Affordable Office Outfit Series: H&M

Week 3 of affordable, comfortable, EASY office clothes to complete your {I-never-see-the-light-during-the-day} wardrobes comes from H&M!

For me, H&M is either a major hit or a super flop when it comes to affordable office clothing.  Sometimes I’ll go through looooooong phases of being unpleased with the clothes, pricing, OR both.  And other times I’ll end up buying the whole store & walk away spending a little less than $50 (<<< some of the best days of my life).

Right now, we’re in the later of the two options.

H&M is killing it w/their options & pricing at the moment.

Comfortable, basic, affordable clothes to revamp the office wardrobe for CHEAP!  Yes. Please.

I would’ve done an H&M post first, but I know their store locations are not as easy to find as a Target or Forever 21.  I have to say, totally worth shopping online through H&M’s website.  The stores are always so busy!

Pants $10!  (  Similar:  HERE  ) These pants look a little like leggings at the top, as they don’t have belt loops, but they aren’t stretchy & still hold in your legs (LOL is that a thing?) so you won’t look like you rolled out of bed & went to work in yoga pants.  They have them in so many colors & I will be purchasing them all.

Shirt $15!  (  Similar:  HERE  )  Seriously.  This one and about 100 more similar to the one I’m wearing are available at H&M now – I would hop on it!  The mix & match between the pants & shirts, you’ll never need to shop stupid office clothes again #blessed.

I should also note, H&M jewelry has always been the place I like to buy affordable (it’s ok if I lose/break it) items.  They have pretty pieces that don’t tarnish quickly & are super affordable.

That’s it for my affordable office series!  I really wanted to show you how affordable & easy new office clothes can look at a few super common retailers.

It’s a battle I’m always discussing w/friends – you don’t want to spend $$$$$ on clothes only your computer screen is going to see BUT you have to look like you tried a little for that one time your boss walks in…  I hope this inspired that mission.

As for me, I’m needing to vent that I’m completely over hot weather.  Anyone living somewhere that is cold or slightly cold right now?  Tell me about it please, inspire me to move.  We were out at a fundraiser Saturday & I almost passed out from heat stroke, we’re still pushing 100 degrees!  No thanks, over it.  Until the temps change, you can find me enjoying the comforts of my own A/C.

Have a great week everyone!! Remember to be thoughtful 🙂

Dubai Tips & Tricks – To Pull Off A Perfect Trip

Take notes ladies & gentlemen –

Last week I shared your MUST DO bucket list for Dubai & in order to keep that list as short as possible I left out a lot of tips, tricks, & notes to keep.

Here are your 10 Vacation Notes to get through a trip to Dubai in the best way possible!  Enjoy!

Your Perfect Dubai Vacation

Burj Al Arab

10 Dubai Vacation Notes:

1. Buy alcohol in Duty Free at the airport.  This is an absolute must.  Buy as much as you think you’ll drink… & then some. There’s a limit to the amount of alcohol you can buy in Duty Free and bring into the country. The person at the counter will know the amount, so ask them.

2. Have at least one person in your group get a SIM card so you have a phone.  It’s pretty affordable & worth it.  Google maps is your best friend while in Dubai, so having a phone is super helpful.  The two major carriers to look out for while you’re in the airport are Du & Etisalat.  I suggest Etisalat, Du had this weird Data or Voice option that really screwed me out of $$$$ while I was there.  And I suggest getting the SIM card at the airport before you do anything else.

3. DON’T go to Dubai for a party.  Dubai is not a place to go drinking, dancing & partying.  It just isn’t.  You cannnnn party if you want to, but it’s not going to be nearly as good of an experience as it would be somewhere else – you’ll spend WAY more money than it’s worth.  Remember, Dubai is a Muslim country, it wasn’t created for alcohol <– Go with that mindset.  You go to Dubai for shopping, the desert & jaw dropping buildings — not parties.

4. I HIGHLY recommend doing everything on this list, and for any spare time you have – stay in your hotel… LOL! I say that because the hotels in Dubai are G R A N D and G O R G E O U S.  Dubai puts a ton of pride in their hotels – by you simply staying in one, you’re already on a vacation.  Stick to the list, and stick to exploring your hotel.

5. Dubai has rules, but you don’t need to freak out about them.  Just don’t do cocaine, don’t rape anyone, don’t talk about their King, don’t have sex in The Dubai Mall and don’t walk around naked.  In America, when I see people talking about Dubai on TV, they’re always mentioning the “rules”.  There IS rules, and they are super strict IF you break them. But act conservatively and respect everyone – there’s absolutely nothing to be afraid of.  Like I’ve said over and over again, living in Dubai was the safest I’ve ever felt.  I absolutely love that they have major rules AND follow them.  Well done Dubai, well done. (America gets their panties in a bundle over spilled milk *eye roll*).

6. Don’t go in the summer.  It’s fucking hot.  I’d say May – August are probably off limits.  December – March are the best.

7. Check for Religious holidays!  If you make the mistake of going to Dubai in the summer, you’ll probably also be there during Ramadan.  I loved experiencing Ramadan, however – No eating, no drinking, no touching, no music, no restaurants.  Unless you want to become “one” with the Muslim community, avoid going during this time.  ALSO, they have holidays spread throughout the year that are “dry”.  Make sure you know those dates too. (I saw on the Real Housewives they went during a dry time and were trying to act like it’s all cool, but that would be a total bummer if it’s your vacation… or at least I think so).

8. Plan ahead.  There’s nothing wrong with making all your plans ahead of time, and when vacationing in Dubai –> that’s a fantastic idea.  Listen, Dubai is confused.  There are a ton of people that don’t know what the hell their doing – so if you casually “wing it” for a day and don’t know what you’re doing.. You’ll end up EXTREMELY frustrated. (Trust me.)  Even after living there for a year, I would rarely leave the house without an exact plan.  Know your locations so you can specifically tell a cab driver, even better: know large landmarks NEAR your destination, or the exact hotel the restaurant you’re going to is in.  Also, know your timing, have your tickets, book your excursions… Basically – know your shit inside & out.  Don’t assume you can ask someone something and they’ll tell you accurate information, that just doesn’t happen.

9. If you rent a car (which you should for Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque day),  prepare to get lost.  Their roads are easy to drive & I feel pretty safe, BUT there are no U-Turns.  If you miss a turn – you’ll have a long detour.  Use Google Maps. And take your time.  Watch out for those expensive speeding cameras too!  (FYI – the Mosque is actually pretty easy to get to…)

10. Expect to pay more than you budget.  Sometimes, you can breathe air and spend $500.  If you stick to my list of things to do, you should be safe… But wander off, and may the money God’s watch over you!

Have fun! Dubai is built for tourism, stick to the tourist things and you’ll have an awesome time.  Next time I go, I’ll follow my own advice & act like I’ve never been before – I think that would bring out an entirely different perspective.

So0o0o adventurous people,  I’m seeing holidays are in full throttle this summer… Lot’s of travel happening on the Instagram pages. Where’s everyone headed?

I’m always brainstorming the next destination on my travel agenda…

As always, let me know if you have any questions for traveling in the Middle East, I’d be happy to answer!

Talk soon!

>> PS. I knooooow I said I would write about women clothing options for Dubai, coming next week!  I promise.
