What worries me about him starting a job is drowning in routine, which has always been my biggest fear.   I’m already in it,  and coming home to someone who isn’t – has been giving me l i f e .

This is hilarious. I can’t believe I’m addressing this. When I came back from the Dominican Republic a few years ago I remember the study abroad organization sent me an email warning me about “culture shock”.
