Life Chats: MissBassmaster Gone Missing

“You have this one life. How do you want to spend it? Apologizing? Regretting? Questioning? Hating yourself? Dieting? Running after people who don’t see you? Be brave. Believe in yourself. Do what feels good. Take risks. You have this one life. Make yourself proud.”

Life-Chats--Wheres-Missbassmaster

My favorite day of the week has turned into Wednesday’s because I’ve somehow managed to get myself addicted to Survivor.  I haven’t watched the series since the first season but have come full circle, watching again.  I love competition, but that is one show I would never want to be a part of!

The Real Hosuewives of Atlanta really had me hooked as well.  JUICY. I have never wanted to be a part of a group of friends more in my life. They are the baddest.  And I’m addicted.  I can’t turn the show on while Wafiq’s home because he can’t stand the yelling, but I sneak it in when I can.

I have so many super exciting posts coming up but I’ve stalled a little because I have a Web Designer working on my website… I want MissBassmaster to to be functioning & professional, and I am not good enough to get the job done myself so I’ve finally found someone to help.  Editing & working through the new site has taken a ton of time so I haven’t been as present on MissBassmaster as I want to be, but I REALLY believe it’ll be worth it.

Hopefully this will all be done in a week or two.. or three! We’ll see…

In the meantime, I’m only going to post a few times a week  & spend energy creating more!

I thought I’d fill you in as there may be a chance someone looks forward to my posts & notices they’re not happening as often.  I have not disappeared or slowed down… Just making things smoother!

Have a fantastic day & be thoughtful

Xx

Best of 2016: TV & Movies

Did You Know? There’s no reason to feel guilty next time you indulge in your favorite shows- 70% of Netflix users binge-watch their tv series ( v i a )

The most important conversation of 2016, what was binge worthy?!  What was worth those hours missed in front of the TV??  I have a few favorites — they didn’t all come out in 2016 but I watched them in 2016, so they count.

best-of-2016-tv-and-movies

( eye pads ) / ( socks )

I rounded up my favorite TV series I watched this year & a few of my favorite movies.

If you’re staying in & relaxing through the New Year weekend here are some binge worthy options to start your 2017 the right way!

 The Americans

The Americans

Different than other shows, I couldn’t peel myself away from the TV.  There’s suspense w a family dynamic that isn’t seen in other shows.  Lies, love, drama, murders, thrill, adventure, passion & loyalty like no other.  Also, I might be bias here, but it was refreshing/different to see non Arabs coming after America…

Jessica Jones Jessica Jones

I have a crush on this movie because I like the character so much.  A badass woman is all dreams come true, and the story line of this series is a winner for me.

 The Blacklist

netflix

I left this series during the first season but after tough convincing I came back to it, and I’m glad I did.  As soon as you think you have the series figured out, the twists keep it interesting & eliminate all room for boring.

 Chelsea

Chelsea Netflix

I was 50/50 with Chelsea Lately & was not a huge fan of her books… BUT, this talk show is constantly inspiring me.  Yes, Chelsea Handler is inspiring me.  You can tell she developed an idea for a show that would have more than senseless humor, & rolled with it.  Teaching proper vocabulary & spelling, the importance of politics, and incorporating WORLD knowledge – couldn’t be happier about this series.

Last Man Standing

Last man Standing

I would say New Girl as my 2016 favorite but I know I’m getting old on that one.  Last Man Standing is FUNNY!  I was hesitant, but have recently blown through 5 seasons nearly back to back so I don’t think I qualify to say I’m hesitant any longer.  The writers should be getting paid big $$…

Baby Daddy

Baby Daddy

I like shows that make me laugh.  There’s something about easy, quick TV episodes that can do the trick on your casual Wednesday.

Sense 8

Sense 8

This show took me a minute, but once I was into it I was hooked and couldn’t stop.  I think I binged the entire season in 1 day.  No shame.

How to Be Single

 How To Be Single

I almost wrote an entire blog post on this movie, I still might.  What a fantastic film.  The lesson for women to be patient & appreciate their alone time is something money can’t buy.   This movie needs to be taken seriously, ha! And all 20-30 yr olds should be required to watch it w that perspective.  LOVE this movie!

 Chef

Chef

Why would you watch a sad/emotional/thriller/bloody movie when you can watch a light & fluffy movie like Chef.  Is there anything better than this movie?  Can we get more made like this please?!

No Escape

No Escape

…but if you need high suspense/thriller/action – this movie is for you.  I watched it a couple times this year.

Time to share your favorite binge worthy movies & TV series of the year!  I’m having a major dry spell with TV series at the moment (forcing me to read), I’m not finding anything capable of getting me hooked – needs to be GOOD.

Enjoy this last weekend of December & remember to be thoughtful, always 🙂

October Monthly Favorites 2016 | MissBassmaster

October is O.V.E.R.  Time to get a few workouts in before the November thanksgiving meals come rolling through.  If you can keep a consistent workout routine in, you can make it through the holidays like nothing happened!  Stay moving & step away from the cookies!  (Yeah right, my fav food group is cookie… and I’m past the point of denial. )

 missbassmaster-october-favorites

October Favorites:

  1. L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation: Because I have such dry skin I’ve never pursued matte foundation.  I imagine the foundation getting in every dry skin crack & making my face look sucked of life.  However, I accidentally came across this foundation & have used almost the entire bottle already.  The finish is soft matte w a pretty full coverage & doesn’t squeeze in my wrinkles. I add highlight to a couple spots of my face if I’m still wanting the glow, otherwise matte it is!

  2. Tepezcohuite Cream: You already know!  I love this moisturizer, really.  It’s exactly what I was looking for. Something natural, that I can throw on my face as often as I please.  I still slab on large amounts of coconut oil or other face products here & there, but this is a perfect lightweight, non greasy option I always feel comfortable putting on my freshly washed face.  This product will have a place on my bathroom shelf for a long time.

  3. F21 Choker:  I bought this because I had a couple dollars left to spend on a gift card & I’ve been wearing this choker ever since!  Somehow it’s managing to go with every single wardrobe, including my pajamas.  LOL!  Although it’s super affordable, it hasn’t broken or became a dingy color – good find, had to share.

  4. Chelsea:  My new idol.  Before you turn away, I wasn’t a HUGE fan of her show Chelsea Lately on E!, so don’t disregard this favorite thinking I’m simply a fan of Chelsea anything.  This show is on Netflix & has a late night talk show feel to it, but different.  She tries to teach you shit.  Her interview questions go a step deeper than the typical “tell us about your movie”.  You have to give this show a try, at least 1 full episode!! I LOVE IT & it’s seriously inspired new blog directions to take next year.

  5. Ikea Paring Knives:  I can’t believe I haven’t spoken of these knives yet?!  They. Are. Amazing.  I can NOT stand being in the kitchen, trying to slice a fucking tomato, and it turns into a mashed tomato because no knife remains sharp enough to cut through it!  You’ve been there.  If you want to talk about a torturous cooking experience, bring in the dull knives!  From my deli department days I can also remind you that it’s dangerous to have these dull knives in the kitchen, makes room for accidents.  Some how these Ikea knives WORK.  They can cut through anything (including fingers), so be VERY careful.  I think they’re like $2!!!!!!!!

That’s it for October ladies and gentleman! Anyone have an favorites they’ll share w me?  Always looking!

Have a great week & be thoughtful!

TOP 5 NETFLIX SERIES: For the Ladies

TOP 5 NETFLIX SERIES: For The Ladies
Top5Ladies

(I say ladies loosely. No judgment if a guy participates in the binge.)

Like I’ve said here and here, not sharing addicting Netflix series feels like a crime. I carry guilt. (Selfishly, I want to gossip about how badly I want Nick and Jess to hook up! Come on already!)  There’s a couple different categories on Netflix.  I don’t believe you can put your top 5 in one category.

For example, Gossip Girl is a top 5 for me.  But obviously, guys won’t agree.  I think there should be a top 5 for ladies, gents, and both.  Also, when I say binge, that means there’s several seasons out. Binge, as in, you can sit on your couch an entire rainy Sunday with the pizza guy knocking on your door…. twice. There, I said it.

So here you go ladies, my 5 Favorite binge worthy series on Netflix.  Tell me if I’m missing any!!

1. New Girl.

Stop me, stop me now.  This is one of the best shows —> E V E R. I’ve recommended New Girl before, and I wish to recommend it every single day, until every single person has watched it. The comedy is on point! Not too stupid, and oh so real.  I’ve watched every episode several times, it’s the one show that can shut off the anxiety in my head and distract my mind in the best way. And… I’m not fully confident I can be friends with someone who doesn’t connect to this show. I mean, how?

 NewGirl

2. Friends.

THE Classic. New Girl is the new Friends, but Friends will always be top dog.  When I was in the 6th grade I boycotted Seinfield because it took Friend’s 6:30pm time slot. I was upset. And still am. To this day I won’t watch Seinfield.  I’m ride or die for Friends. And you should be too.

 Friends

3.  Scandal.

If you’re not watching this I don’t know what the F you’re doing with your life. Stop right now. STOP. Go binge it,  come back to me, and start over with your life! GO!

Scandal

4.  Gossip Girl.

I mean at least for the fashion inspirations!  I blew through this like wind in a tunnel.  Gossip girl is a series with high school students?! Yes. I’m ashamed to admit this, but I’m owning it.  Don’t run too fast though, this one will suck you in and before you know it you’ll be 5 seasons in, just as ashamed as me.  Overly dramatic and unbelievable in all the right ways! I’m late to the party with this series, and if you haven’t watched it, you probably are too.

 Gossip_girl

5.   Hart of Dixie

I keep waiting to stop watching Hart of Dixie and it doesn’t happen. Not that it’s a bad series, but it’s hard for me to really commit to an entire season of something.  Then Hart of Dixie pops up in my recently viewed list and I click next episode.. There I am, 3 seasons in.  Warm, fuzzy, delicious, romantic, fashion, muscles – with some laughs in between.  PERFECT for your night in! Per usual, nothing too deep, happy thoughts only, paaahlease!Hart of Dixie

Netflix: Sense8

In my defense, I haven’t blabbed about Netflix or random TV shows in a long time… So I feel it’s acceptable (and necessary) for me to share. And I’m sorry to anyone reading in Dubai that doesn’t have access to Netflix (hopefully you’ve figured out VPN to get around that problem), I’ve been there and I understand.

Sense8.

sense8-cast-netflix-2015

Watch it. Binge watch it. Love it. Hate it. Think about it.

I had to watch the entire season before I admitted to myself that this is a good show, but I’ve decided it’s a very good show. One that you really have to sit down and think about, but so addicting and worth the brain stretch. Nothing you would expect. Also, give it a couple episodes –> you’ll end up watching the whole season.

From now on my TV reviews will have 5 words I would use to describe the series.

Sense8: Suspense / Empowerment / Hot / Sci fi / Action / What

Arrow.

This is a good show. I have to help my Netflix addicts out there because it’s important we stick together. When you finish a series and start looking for a new one there’s a sense of panic weeding through the millions of options. Very overwhelming. Which is why I need to recommend good shows when I find them. Help get through the mess, lessen the stress. I also like talking about my favorite shows with you friends, makes me happy for some oddball reason 🙂

Arrow-TV-Show-Wallpaper

Arrow is adventurous and addicting. Fits the men and women in the family, if you’re forced to find something that suites both. Action and drama. You might have to hang in there a little through season 1, but it’s worth it in season 2.  The actors happen to be very attractive looking, which is always a plus in my book.  I don’t want to ruin anything by saying too much…

So, you’re welcome for helping you enjoy your weekend on the couch.

WARNING: Don’t watch before sleeping, you’ll have some crazy heroic dreams.

Netflix Delivery

I always used to exchange my favorite shows to binge watch on Netflix with my peeps, so I wanted to keep that going on a larger scale and share my new addiction: New Girl

If at all possible, I stay away from TV Comedies because I find them boring but I was forced into watching New Girl.  I have one channel in my apartment at the moment and New Girl happened to be playing and it took one episode for me to look it up on Netflix and start watching. I’m glad I did, because I literally laugh out loud watching. And I promise it’s not just for girls, it might be even more funny to guys. Anyways, highly recommend it for all you Netflix addicts. You’re welcome in advance 🙂
